Let’s check out the Haiti vs Mexico odds for an important Gold Cup matchup.

CONCACAF Gold Cup

Haiti vs Mexico

Date, time:
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, USA

Head-to-Head

Haiti’s last win over Mexico came in a 1971 friendly match. Since then, Mexico are 4-2-0 vs. Haiti, and they last played in the 2019 Gold Cup. A Raul Jimenez penalty in extra time was the game’s only goal as El Tri advanced to the final. Mexico are 2-0 vs. Haiti on their Gold Cup schedule all-time.

Haiti Save it For Late

    • Last Match: 2-1 W vs. Qatar
    • Standings: 1-0, 2nd Group B
    • Next Match: Jul. 2nd vs. Honduras

Haiti fell behind in the first half of their match vs. Qatar on Sunday. Les Grenadiers keeper Alexandre Pierre couldn’t get a hold of the ball in the box and Qatar’s Yousuf Abdurisag finished the scramble. Qatar later hit the crossbar on another good chance, but Haiti received a penalty just before the half on a hand ball in the box. Duckens Nazon stepped up and shot his penalty straight down the middle and into the back of the net.

The second half of Haiti’s Gold Cup opener was back-and-forth, but both sides struggled to find a breakthrough. Then, right at the death, Haiti got the goal that completed a comeback victory. Frantzdy Pierrot finished off a pass from substitute Carnejy Antoine in the seventh minute of stoppage time.

Now, Haiti are in a great position to qualify for the knockout stage, which they missed out on in 2019. Following the match vs. Mexico, Les Grenadiers take on Honduras, who they haven’t played for seven years.

Haiti were at their best vs. Qatar when they played direct, and it’ll be interesting to see if that continues throughout the tournament. However, soccer predictions aren’t typically giving Haiti a solid chance to win this match aren’t typically giving Haiti a solid chance to win this match, though.

Mexico Win in Lozano’s First Match

    • Last Match: 4-0 W vs. Honduras
    • Standings: 1-0, 1st Group B
    • Next Match: Jul. 2nd vs. Qatar

Following a 3-0 loss to the USA in the recent CONCACAF Nations League final, Mexico fired coach Diego Cocca. Now, Jaime Lozano is at the helm for at least the Gold Cup. The interim coach won in his first match as Mexico defeated Honduras 4-0 last Sunday.

Luis Romo opened up the scoring just 51 seconds into the match, and Mexico never looked back. Romo scored on a header later in the first half, and El Tri also added two goals in the second half. Mexico, who looked frustrated and out of ideas in the Nations League, played freer under Lozano.

There will always be high expectations on Mexico in CONCACAF matches and they are the current favorites to win the Gold Cup. El Tri were last champions in 2019 and show +160 odds of taking home the trophy. Mexico proved they can score goals without the duo of Raul Jimenez and Hirving Lozano on Sunday, but it remains to be seen if they can keep it up. The Haiti vs Mexico odds price Mexico as the favorites for Thursday’s match.

Match Analysis and Odds

The only meeting between the sides in the past decade finished 1-0 to Mexico. Regardless, Mexico come into the match as 1.5-goal favorites. El Tri sit at -105 odds to win a second straight game by a multi-goal margin. Meanwhile, Haiti +1.5 comes in at -125 odds as Les Grenadiers look to stay unbeaten.

However, Haiti are just 1-3-8 all-time vs. Mexico and are +700 underdogs for this match in the Phoenix area. Expect Mexican fans to make up the vast majority of the crowd on Thursday. That said, El Tri display -300 Haiti vs Mexico odds to come away with another win and potentially seal knockout stage qualification. Should Honduras and Qatar draw, the winner would earn a berth in the knockout stage, with a game still to play.

A draw is priced at +400 odds here but Haiti are on a six-game winning run in competitive matches. They’ve scored two goals in each of those matches but they haven’t taken on a team of Mexico’s caliber in a while. You’d have to go back to the 2021 Gold Cup, where Haiti lost to both the USA and Canada, to find similar opponents. Both teams’ openers featured at least three goals but under three goals show -130 odds for Thursday’s game.
