Offensive Star Power Makes Missouri a Rare Favorite Against Florida

Florida vs. Missouri Football Analysis: Missouri Eyeing No. 2 Spot in SEC East Division

Florida Continues a Brutal Stretch of Games to End the 2023 Regular Season

It doesn’t get much easier for the Florida Gators. Coming off a loss to LSU, next up is a trip to Missouri, followed by a game against undefeated Florida State with Florida needing one more win to become bowl eligible. Missouri can wrap up second place in the SEC East Division race with a win. When looking at the Florida vs Missouri football analysis has, Missouri listed as a double-digit favorite.

The teams have split the last four games played in Missouri, with the Tigers winning by a point in 2021.

The college football schedule shows Missouri will end the regular season with a game at Arkansas on Nov. 24.

Missouri is currently listed as the 11.5-point favorite against visiting Florida.

Missouri moved up five spots to No. 11 in the Associated Press poll and went from 15th to 11th in the American Football Coaches Association poll. The Tigers in 14th in the College Football Playoff rankings a week ago.

Receiver Andy Jean (6 catches) is questionable with a lower-body injury, while receiver Caleb Douglas (11 receptions), linebacker Shemar James (54 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss), tight end Jonathan Odom nine catches) and safety Kamari Wilson are all out for Florida.

For Missouri, linebacker Chad Bailey (17 tackles) and receiver Demariyon Houston are questionable, with running back Michael Cox and defensive back Shamar McNeil out for the Tigers.

According to the NCAAF odds, Missouri came into the season priced at -105 to win more than 6.5 games during the regular season. The Tigers are already at eight wins. Those who went with the +120 odds for Florida to go under 5.5 regular-season wins are feeling pretty good right now.

Gators Lacking Bite

Stopping LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is no easy task, but still, the performance of the Florida defense left much to be desired the last time out.

Daniels threw for 372 yards and three touchdowns, added 234 rushing yards and two more touchdowns as LSU had 701 yards of total offense in a 52-35 win. Daniels became the first major college player with at least 350 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in the same game. While Brady Cook is the third-leading rusher for Missouri, don’t expect to see him run quite as much against the Gators as Daniels did a week ago.

Florida has made some strides defensively, going from allowing 411 yards to 385.5 yards this season. However, the 6.57 yards per play allowed is the worst mark by a team from a Power-5 conference. That is something to consider when looking at the Florida vs Missouri football analysis.

Florida has covered in just three of its last 11 games.

Dynamic Duo Roaring For the Tigers

Wondering why Missouri is the most surprising team in the SEC? Starting with the production out of running back Cody Schrader and receiver Luther Burden is a pretty good place to start.

Missouri is the only team at the Football Bowl Subdivision level to have somebody ranked in the top 10 nationally in rushing yards and receiving yards. That factors into the Florida vs Missouri football analysis.

Schrader ran for a season-high 205 yards in a 36-7 win over Tennessee and has 476 yards over the last three games to move into SEC rushing lead with 1124 yards.

Burden has 984 yards on 68 catches for Missouri as he is on the verge of becoming the first Missouri pass catcher to go over 1000 yards since J’Mon Moore in 2017. That was also the last time the Tigers had both a receiver and running back go over 1000 yards in the same season.

Missouri has covered in seven of its last eight games.
