Hatton Firms for Sony Open Success in Hawaii

2024 Sony Open Odds

It’s a wide-open 2024 Sony Open odds betting market for this week’s PGA Tour headliner.

Current favorite Ludvig Aberg didn’t play well at The Sentry last week, but the sportsbook has faith in the promising youngster.

However, Tyrrell Hatton has firmed considerably, and he could start the tournament as the favorite.

Backing the Brits

There is good value in backing Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick.

The British players did well last week in Hawaii; we could see them at the top of the Sony Open leaderboard.

32-year-old Hatton finished T14 after shooting -6 in the final round, and he only needs to make some putts to win more PGA Tour tournaments.

The 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner is better than a one-time PGA winner, so we expect him to win at least once this year.

2024 Sony Open odds have Hatton at +1350 to win, after opening at +1500, so it’s a solid move for the Brit.

Ryder Cup teammate Fitzpatrick tied with Hatton at T14 last week, and although both were no match for winner Chris Kirk, this is an easier field.

There is no Kirk, Scottie Scheffler, or Xander Schauffele in the field, and Fitzpatrick has shown his ability to win on the big stage when taking out the 2022 U.S. Open.

Fitzpatrick is on the third line of betting at +1400, so include him in your golf picks.

ROTY Firing Early

Despite being 35, Eric Cole won Rookie of the Year in 2023.

He is going from strength to strength following a T14 finish last week, alongside Hatton, Fitzpatrick, Max Homa, and a host of talented players.

Despite having never won the PGA Tour, he was consistent enough to win the ROTY title last year, which should give him plenty of confidence.

Cole has earned the respect of betting markets at +3000. His PGA Tour stats read well, and although he doesn’t do anything flashy, he won’t use his errant drives and get himself into trouble.

“It was a long year and I got a lot of comments that I played a lot, but I was just so happy to be out on Tour finally and any chance I had to compete on Tour just felt like a huge privilege,” Cole said.

Given the odds available, we’re including him. His 2024 Sony Open odds could firm throughout the week, so take what’s known as soon as possible.

Theegala is Getting Close

Sahith Theegala is getting close to scoring another PGA Tour win, and his PGA Tour schedule looks busy.

Playing a lot of golf should help Theegala, who fired up in the final round last week to narrow miss beating Kirk. It was another terrific performance from the 26-year-old American, who won the 2023 Fortinet Championship.

He also won the QBE Shootout in 2022 with Tom Hoge, so he’s an official two-time winner on the tour, and he clearly has a bright future.

Having taken his time with college golf in the amateur rankings, Theegala is well-equipped in the professional ranks.

We don’t think it will take him long to win in 2024, so take the +3300 odds.

Matsuyama at Odds

We can’t turn down the odds for Hideki Matsuyama, who is a logical inclusion at +4000.

The former Masters winner might not be playing his best golf, but he’s too good to ignore, especially at the odds.

The Japanese superstar finished 58th last week, which isn’t up to his usual standard. However, he closed with a good round and could use that momentum to his advantage.

He’s still only 31 years old, and he has eight PGA Tour wins. That can’t be overlooked, and he won the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2022.

It won’t take him much to get back to that form, and being a past champion of this event warrants attention.
