Scheffler Value With The Open Championship Odds

Royal Liverpool Hosts the Third Major

The Open Championship odds have been released and it’s Rory McIlroy leading the pack at +650 following his win in Scotland.

Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler are right in behind with golf betting odds, as they look to stop the Northern Irishman’s winning run.

There are many golfers looking to be at the top of the golf leaderboard, and the sportsbook has excellent value available.

Scheffler to End Drought

Scheffler has yet to win outside February, March, and April. The world number one has been the most consistent golfer over the last two years, but he needs to win this time of the year.

He comes off another stellar effort at the Scottish Open behind McIlroy, and although he didn’t win, he continues to hit the ball better than most.

If he gets his putter working, the rest of the field doesn’t stand a chance. However, he needs to get the monkey off his back.

“I would obviously like to win more but golf is one of those games that you’re never really satisfied and it’s kind of like life, too – you’re never really satisfied with the results of things and you always want more,” Scheffler said.

“I want to win every time I tee it up, and I think that’s kind of how hard it is. You win once and you want to win twice. It’s funny, as a kid, if you think you win once on the PGA Tour, you’ll be satisfied. And you win once and it’s pretty fun and you want to win again, and the cycle continues.”

The Open Championship odds have the American on the second line of betting at +800. He was a +1000 chance before his showing in Scotland, so there has been good money for him.

The golf tournament shapes up well for Scheffler, who should enjoy the conditions at Royal Liverpool. It won’t be as windy as Scotland, so he can dial in his irons and leave himself with a short putt.

McIlroy in the Same Boat

McIlroy won the Scottish Open with consecutive birdies on 17 and 18, but he still hasn’t won a major since 2014.

The pressure mounts on the former world number one, who doesn’t get a better chance to win than this week.

He doesn’t mind the tough British conditions, and although he still makes mistakes off the tee, he manages to escape without too much damage.

Winning last week should give him plenty of confidence, and he hasn’t been missed with The Open Championship odds. He’s the current +650 favorite, which is a little short for our liking, but we can’t leave him out of selections.

He will win his fifth major sooner rather than later, and that determination could get him over the line on Sunday.

Fleetwood Nearing Statement Win

Bettors have a long and frustrating relationship when it comes to betting on Tommy Fleetwood.

The Brit is one of the more popular golfers on tour, but winning tournaments regularly isn’t his thing, especially big tournaments.

Fleetwood has the ability to win at the major level, and given his experience in these conditions, he shouldn’t be too far away from the top of the leaderboard.

He went close in Scotland last week, so he’s hitting the ball well. Fleetwood just needs to play well in the opening round, so he can grind away for the next three days.

Bettors get +2200 for the Englishman, and those odds are worth including on your Open Championship ticket.
