Alaves Scoreless in Last Three

Alaves are currently in 13th place in the La Liga standings but they could certainly find themselves in a relegation fight this season. The Blue and Whites are just three points outside of the relegation zone as things stand and they’ve dropped their last two matches. On Monday, Alaves fell 3-0 at leaders Girona and now play the second-placed team in the league, Real Madrid, on Thursday.

The best chance Alaves had on Monday was when Ruben Duarte struck the crossbar but the Basque club couldn’t manage to get on the scoresheet. Alaves have scored just 14 goals in 17 matches this season, which is tied for the fewest in the league. Bettors should note that Alaves have failed to score in each of their last three La Liga games. They’re also 0-3 vs. members of La Liga’s top four this season.

Alaves’ top scorer this season is 19-year old Samu Omorodion, who’s on loan from Atletico Madrid. The forward has found the net four times in 15 appearances. Kike is the only other Alaves player with more than one La Liga goal this season. Alaves will be missing defender Aleksandar Sedlar on Thursday. The defender made 11 league starts before tearing his ACL. The Alaves vs. Real Madrid odds currently price the hosts as +500 underdogs for Thursday’s match.

Injuries Piling up for Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric continues to defy father time. The 38-year old midfielder, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2018, is still playing at a high level. He provided the assist on Jude Bellingham’s opening goal vs. Villarreal on Sunday and also scored Real Madrid’s fourth goal. Los Blancos dominated and picked up a 4-1 win as Rodrygo and Brahim Diaz also got on the scoresheet. Diaz’s goal was a brilliant solo goal and he’s stepped up since Vinicius Junior went down with an injury.

Unfortunately, David Alaba tore his ACL in the match vs. Villarreal and figures to miss the rest of the season. Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao are also nursing ACL injuries but could return before the end of the season. Injuries are piling up for Real Madrid as Vini, Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, Eduardo Camavinga and Arda Guler will all miss Thursday’s match.

Regardless, the La Liga odds list Real Madrid as -335 favorites to win the title. Real are unbeaten in their last 11 La Liga games and they still have a deep squad despite all of the injuries. Bellingham still leads La Liga, with 13 goals, while Toni Kroos is joint-leader in assists, with five.

Match Analysis & Odds

Despite all of their injuries, Real Madrid are still expected to grab all three points on the road vs. Alaves. The Alaves vs. Real Madrid odds list the visitors as one-goal favorites for Thursday’s match. Real -1 comes in at -105 odds, while Alaves +1 sits at -115 odds. Real Madrid have averaged three goals per game over their last five La Liga matches as all of Rodrygo, Bellingham and Diaz have been in good goalscoring form.

Bettors can take Real Madrid to win the match at -180 odds, which isn’t at all a bad pick. Real enter this match with a 6-2-1 La Liga road record, while Alaves are 4-1-3 at home. Alaves are +500 underdogs as there’s a decent chance they’ll break their scoreless streak here. Alaves over 0.5 goals is priced at -160 odds.

Real are going for their fourth straight win in this fixture and the last 17 meetings have finished with a winner. Still, a draw displays +310 odds for this one. Over 2.5 goals show -120 odds as Real have had no problems getting on the scoresheet lately.
