Ligue 1: Brest vs Marseille Preview & Odds
Marseille Hitting Rough Patch

Brest on 10 Game Ligue 1 Unbeaten Streak
With four draws and one loss, Marseille are winless in Ligue 1 in 2024. As they hit a rough patch, Brest are on a 10 game league unbeaten streak. The two sides will meet on Sunday as Brest look to stay in the Champions League race. Brest host Marseille at the Stade Francis Le Blé and the home team could move up to as high as second place with a win. Ahead of the match, we’ll take a look at the odds in our Brest vs Marseille preview.
Brest vs Marseille H2H
Brest vs Marseille previews note this is the second match between the two sides on the 2023-24 Ligue 1 schedule. In August, Chancel Mbemba and Ismaila Sarr scored as Marseille picked up a 2-0 victory at the Stade Velodrome. Last season, Brest were unbeaten in this fixture, with a 1-1 draw at home and 2-1 win on the road. Over the last five meetings, both teams have won two matches and one match finished in a draw. Marseille have won seven of the last ten matchups, though.
Brest on Three Game Draw Streak
Brest picked up their third Ligue 1 draw in a row last Sunday when they took on Clermont. Pierre Lees-Melou opened up the scoring for visitors Brest with a brilliant second half strike into the top corner. However, Clermont responded as Grejohn Kyei scored an equalizing header. Both teams were reduced to ten men when Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot and Clermont midfielder Elbasan Rashani got into an altercation.
Bizot will miss this match vs. Marseille as a result and Gregoire Coudert is expected to fill in at keeper. Midfielder Mahdi Camara is also suspended for this one. This season, only Lille and Nice have conceded fewer goals than Brest and their defense has often carried them. Brest have kept five clean sheets in their last seven Ligue 1 games.
Defender Bradley Locko leads the Ligue 1 stats in both crosses into the penalty area and tackles this season. Fellow defender Kenny Lala is the only Brest player to play every minute of every Ligue 1 match this season. With five goals and five assists in Ligue 1, winger Romain del Castillo is one to watch for Brest on Sunday.
Marseille on Short Rest
Olympique Marseille took on Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout Play-off on Thursday. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a hand in both of Marseille’s goals but OM fell short. Twice Marseille took the lead and twice they conceded in the 2-2 draw. Aubameyang scored in the 64th minute and provided what looked like it’d be the game winning assist in the 90th.
However, Marseille switched off and conceded a header in stoppage time. They’re in a decent position heading into the second leg in France but the draw came under disappointing circumstances. They’ll be on short rest for Sunday’s match at Brest and they’re just 1-4-5 on the road in Ligue 1. Marseille head into the weekend in eighth place in the Ligue 1 standings and Gennaro Gattuso’s tenure has been quite up and down.
Marseille did bring in a few players before the transfer deadline, including left back Quentin Merlin, forward Faris Moumbagna and left back Ulisses Garcia. Moumbagna scored in his first Ligue 1 start and he and Aubameyang could form a formidable partnership. For this match, center back Samuel Gigot is suspended. Meanwhile, Jordan Veretout, Michael Murillo and Valentin Rongier are all injured.
Brest vs Marseille Analysis & Odds
Marseille are currently eight points outside of the Champions League places and need to start gaining ground. They have a talented roster but they’ve been unable to string together consistent stretches of play. Heading into this match, OM have drawn five of their last six 90-minute matches. Brest vs Marseille previews note that this match is listed as a pick’em.
Brest pk comes in at -125 odds, while bettors can find Marseille pk at -105. Brest, at +155 moneyline odds, are slight favorites but they are on a three game draw streak.
