Ligue 1 Match of the Week

PSG on 15 Game Unbeaten Run in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain will try to extend their Ligue 1 unbeaten streak to 16 games when they host Lille on Saturday. This Ligue 1 match of the week features the only two Ligue 1 teams to win the title since 2018. Lille are just outside of the Champions League places at the moment and have kept three straight Ligue 1 shutouts. Both teams will be on short rest following Wednesday’s Coupe de France matches. Bettors should keep that in mind as we preview the PSG vs Lille betting lines.

Head-to-Head

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

PSG are unbeaten in their last five Ligue 1 games vs Lille and have scored nearly four goals per game during that time. Lille only have one win at the Parc des Princes since 1996 but did defeat PSG on the road in 2021. Both teams have scored in each of the last five meetings.

PSG on Course for Another Title

Last Friday, PSG took on an in-form Strasbourg side in a Ligue 1 matchup. Early on, Strasbourg keeper Alaa Bellaarouch saved Kylian Mbappe’s penalty. Later on in the first half, Bellaarouch gifted PSG a goal.

Marco Asensio blocked the keeper’s kick and found Mbappe, who slotted home into an empty net. Asensio also scored PSG’s second goal on a lightning-fast second half counter attack.

Asensio has been involved in six goals in his last five appearances, in all competitions. PSG conceded in the 68th minute but held on to grab all three points. In the process, PSG ended Strasbourg’s eight game unbeaten streak.

On Wednesday, PSG hosted Brest in a Coupe de France round of 16 match. Mbappe was on the scoresheet yet again and the Parisians cruised to a 3-1 victory. Rumors have been swirling, as they often do, about Mbappe’s future, but the French superstar has been in excellent form.

He’s on top of the list of Ligue 1 top scorers, with 20 goals in 19 matches this season. He’s scored over 40 percent of PSG’s Ligue 1 goals this season and has been their key player.

PSG have scored 11 goals more than any other team in Ligue 1 and have an eight point lead at the top of the table. The two-time defending champions are -5000 favorites to win a third straight title. While Achraf Hakimi and Lee Kang-in are back from international duty, Presnel Kimpembe, Milan Skriniar and Nuno Mendes are injured.

Lille’s Shutout Streak Comes to an End

Heading into Wednesday’s Coupe de France round of 16 match at Lyon, Lille had kept five straight shutouts, in all competitions. However, their defending on Wednesday was poor, especially on Lyon’s second goal in Les Dogues’ 2-1 loss.

The loss was just Lille’s second in their last 22 games overall. Currently, Lille are in fourth place in the Ligue 1 standings, with a 9-8-3 record. Only PSG have lost fewer matches in Ligue 1 than Lille.

Last time out in Ligue 1, Lille destroyed Clermont 4-0 and they could have scored more. Jonathan David scored a first half brace while Benjamin Andre found the net on the header.

The pick of the bunch was a wonder strike by Edon Zhegrova, who also provided an assist in the match. David has been in great form lately, with six goals in his previous eight Ligue 1 games.

Only Mbappe, Wissam Ben Yedder and Alexandre Lacazette have scored more league goals than David this Ligue 1 season. Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier has kept clean sheets in 60 percent of his matches and also has the third-best save percentage in Ligue 1.

On Sunday, Bafode Diakite, Samuel Umtiti and Ivan Cavaleiro could all be out injured.

Match Analysis & Odds

Given PSG’s recent form, it’s no surprise that they’re one-goal favorites vs Lille. Paris Saint-Germain haven’t lost a match in any competition for three months and are clicking under Luis Enrique.

The Parisians have one of the most potent attacks of any European team and Mbappe isn’t the only player who can hurt Lille. Ousmane Dembele had an excellent match vs Brest and he’s been one of the leagues best providers this season.

A look at the PSG vs Lille betting lines shows that PSG are -180 favorites for this match, while Lille come in as +465 underdogs. Bettors can also take a draw at +335. Lille did manage to draw vs PSG back in December and Lille +1 sits at -120. Les Dogues have been quite a difficult team to defeat in Ligue 1 and could make this a match.

Meanwhile, PSG -1 sits at -110 odds as the Parisians have scored at least two goals in their last eight matches overall. The last time they failed to score multiple goals in a match was vs Lille. Here, both over and under 2.5, 3 goals are priced at -115 odds.
