Major League Baseball Weekend Spotlight: Yordan Alvarez

Alvarez Was 5-12 With a Homer & Four RBI Helping the ‘Stros to Series Win

The Houston Astros (82-63) have lengthened their lead to two games in the recent MLB standings division in the American League West. Houston washed down a terrific weekend against the San Diego Padres by dropping the first game of a 3-game series against the lowly Oakland Athletics.

With the next five games against the Athletics and Kansas City Royals, the schedule has presented a gift with 17 games left. Join us as we put our weekend spotlight on Yordan Alvarez stats and how his presence in the Houston line-up is pushing his team toward another division title.

Consistency In Alvarez’s Splits

Our spotlight is focused on the past weekend, but when it comes to Yordan Alvarez stats, it’s clear the DH has been a season-long success story. With 26 homers, Alvarez won’t compete for the top spot in the MLB HR leaders 2023, but his value comes in various forms other than the long ball. Over the last week, Alvarez is hitting .474 with three homers and 8 RBI, and .385 over the last two weeks with four homers and 9 RBI.

That’s impressive, but long-term statistics give us more clarity. In Alvarez’s last 116 games, which span a complete calendar year, the 26-year-old has crushed 31 homers and 99 RBI. He owns a 36-game on-base streak to go with 19 go-ahead hits in 2023. In 97 games, Alvarez has a hit in 71 or 74% of his games.

Yordan Alvarez stats also reveal a player that has scored a run in 56% of his team’s games. As mentioned, Houston starts a series against the Oakland Athletics. Alvarez started off the 3-games with an 0-3, but that’s just the third time the Silver Slugger failed to get a hit in 11 games. For those who are into prop bets, expect both the Astros and Alvarez to go off this week.

Prop Bets Offer Opportunity

Prop bets involving Jordan Alvarez appear daily on most sites with tonight being no different. You would think with all we just brought to your attention, that bettors wouldn’t get as many opportunities but if you think Alvarez’s total bases will exceed 1.5, there are books that will give you even money.

To make it more interesting, Alvarez is -250 he’ll get a hit tonight, but +175 to if he fails. Perhaps a wager on the over 1.5 total bases but under .5 hits. The only way you’ll lose money is if Alvarez finishes the game with a single off Athletics pitching.

If we want to get crazy with our MLB predictions, let’s sprinkle a little on Alvarez hitting a home run (+250). We see some money coming in on Alvarez to score a run(-155) even though Jose Altuve is still the favorite(-165). That does it for our spotlight on Yordan Alvarez’s stats spotlight, we wish you all the best with your prop and straight wagers this week.
