Monday’s Game

The Padres were able to avoid the sweep at Toronto on Sunday and now send Cease to the mound. He’s pitched well all MLB season, allowing two earned runs or less in all four starts.

San Diego is 2-2 in the games he’s started due to some poor relief pitching. He hasn’t pitched that well against the Rockies in the past, although it’s just two starts.

Gomber has been pretty average for the Rockies, but Colorado is 2-2 when he starts and 3-15 when anybody else takes the hill. San Diego is 3-1 against left-handed starters this year, but is averaging 4.5 runs per game.

Gomber has pitched well against San Diego in the past and Colorado is 4-4 when he starts against the Padres. Those Colorado teams were scoring more than this year’s squad, however, so you can’t read too much into it.

The Padres vs Rockies betting odds are on the high side here. As a price play, you could do a lot worse than take Colorado +156, but it’s not easy to pull the trigger. Most MLB predictions today will have people on San Diego, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Rockies win.

Tuesday’s Game

The Padres vs Rockies betting lines will have Michael King favored over Colorado’s Ryan Feltner. King has been a steady pitcher for the Padres. San Diego is 3-1 when he starts and he’s just one lackluster performance. King is coming off his best start of the season and could be a little bit overpriced here.

Feltner is coming off his worst start of the season at Philadelphia. Colorado is 1-3 when he starts, although his lone game at home has been his best outing all year. He pitched well last year against San Diego, but was on the losing end of a 2-0 game.

You’ll get a decent price on the Rockies here, it’s a question if it’s high enough to take a flyer on Colorado. As long as you’re getting +135 or better, Colorado could be a fair option for Tuesday.

Wednesday’s Game

Matt Waldron will get the start for the Padres. The Rockies are undecided. It would be Dakota Hudson’s turn in the rotation, but Colorado may have seen enough. Both MLB teams are 0-4 with today’s pitchers for the season. Waldron has had two solid starts, but the Padres haven’t given him much help.

Hudson hasn’t been all that bad, but he’s been far from good. Still, he’s probably the best option in this spot for the Rockies. Especially with Kyle Freeland out for at least 15 days. The Rockies have only scored five runs in Hudson’s four starts this year.

Waldron’s two road starts have been his best. He’s allowed one earned run in 10 1/3 innings, but San Diego managed to lose both games. Waldron was roughed up a little bit in his two home starts this season.

Waldron’s record and stats could help keep the price down a little bit in this MLB game. If the line is higher than Padres -140, take a look at using San Diego on the run line.

Thursday’s Game

The Padres vs Rockies betting odds will have San Diego favored in the final game of the series. Randy Vasquez is scheduled to make his second start of the season.

He allowed one earned run in five innings in his season debut, the the MLB scores showed the Padres on the wrong end of a 5-2 contest. Vasquez also allowed three unearned runs.

Freeland would have been the starter here, but with him on the 15-day MLB injured list, the Rockies will have to do something. The Colorado relief pitchers don’t inspire a lot of confidence for a bullpen game. Ty Blach was just called up and could get the start.

He was the most effective pitcher at Albuquerque for the Rockies, although that’s not saying a whole lot. It also wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Blach start Wednesday and Hudson get the nod here.

The total on this one could be high, but right now, that seems like the way to go in this one.
