Magic Looking For Regular-Season Sweep Over The Knicks

We're Betting the Road Favorite After Looking at The Magic vs Knicks Odds

The Orlando Magic will defend their five-game winning streak against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

The Magic, 37-26 on the season, are now ahead of the Knicks in the Eastern Conference NBA standings. But while Orlando’s five-game winning streak has been fun, the schedule hasn’t been anything like the Knicks’ lately.

The Magic ganged up on five teams that won’t make the playoffs this year, including the Nets, Jazz, Pistons, Hornets, and Wizards. So again, this five-game winning streak is huge. But these were games where the Magic should’ve won.

Despite Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby being listed as questionable for this game, the Knicks are sitting at +1.5 (-110), with the total currently at 206.5.

Brunson reportedly completed most of practice on Thursday, meaning he’ll likely be back on the court for the Knicks this weekend if not this game.

Magic vs Knicks Odds & Trends

The Orlando Magic have been one of the most profitable and surprising teams this NBA season. The Magic might be 37-26 on the year, but they’ve gone 42-21 against the spread.

However, Orlando’s only real blemish is its 16-18 road record. The Magic are terrific at home but not so great on the road, which is where they’ll be against the Knicks.

Orlando has also hit the Under in three more games than the Over this season.

On the other hand, the Knicks are 31-29-2 against the spread but have hit the Under in 14 more games than the Over. It’s unclear who will be healthy for the Knicks. But either way, the Knicks are 20-12 at home this season.

Oddly enough, the Magic have defeated the Knicks in all three previous matchups this season. Orlando was an underdog in two games and a favorite in one of them, covering each matchup.

No Love For Orlando?

Despite the wins, point guard Cole Anthony feels like the team isn’t getting much love from the media and fans. Anthony told the media that the “hype will come” after the team knocked off the Hornets on March 5. Then, they knocked off the Wizards the following day.

The Magic feel like they haven’t been talked about enough despite their 37-26 record. Part of that is because the Magic just added a major winning streak against bad NBA teams. But that also doesn’t matter too much when you see the Magic covering many games this season.

Orlando is performing above expectations and is now ahead of the Knicks in the standings. This is the same team that has more wins this year than it did all of last year. But we’ve still got a month of regular season basketball left.

Can The Knicks Get Healthy?

The New York Knicks are built to make a monster run in the NBA Playoffs. But they need to get healthy first.

Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby will return shortly. However, the Knicks are still waiting on Julius Randle and are hoping Mitch Robinson can help them make a run in the playoffs.

Brunson and Anunoby are practicing, but Randle has only progressed to light contact, while Robinson has only started to run and jump.

Right now, the Knicks are fifth in the Eastern Conference. That’s still enough to stay in the NBA Playoffs without having to play in the NBA Play-In Tournament, but a couple more losses could change that very quickly.

There are 20 more NBA games on the schedule. Right now, the Knicks will have to hang tough until the rest of the guys come back. Then, they can make a run in the playoffs.

New York’s Lack Of Scoring

It’s unclear who will be back for the Knicks in this game. But we know that the Knicks have struggled to find offense in three of their last four games.

In the last three losses, the Knicks have scored less than 104.3 points per 100 possessions and have shot an effective field goal percentage of 46.5% or worse.

Recently, the Knicks haven’t been able to consistently get to the foul line. They’re still an excellent offensive-rebounding team, but they can’t grab every miss!

New York’s defense is still playing at a high level. They’ve done a good job at keeping teams off the glass and have earned a high rate of turnovers. But it just doesn’t matter if the offense can’t score points. The Knicks have scored no more than 107 points in the last four games and have added just 100 points or fewer in their previous three losses.

Of course, having Brunson back would be helpful, but it’s unclear if he’ll be 100 percent.

Conversely, the Magic have shot an effective field goal percentage of at least 61% in the last five games. The turnover percentage is high and will remain high against the Knicks, but Orlando is at least getting to the foul line consistently.

Don’t expect the Magic to win many offensive rebounds. But lately, Orlando hasn’t had to worry, shooting at such a high rate.

On defense, Orlando has also looked tremendous. Again, they’ve played some of the worst teams in the league, but at least they’re blowing out the worst teams in the league with terrific defense. The Magic are usually good on the defensive glass and have added at least 21.1% of turnovers in two of their last five games.

The Knicks have a better chance at winning the NBA Championship when healthy, but the Magic still match up better against them. Orlando is looking for a four-game regular-season sweep against the Knicks, and they’ve played better recently.

After checking the Magic vs Knicks odds, we’ll roll with the Magic on the road at -1.5 (-110).
