Boise State 2023 Future Odds: National Championship, Conference, Regular Season Wins and Player Props

Broncos Favored to Win Mountain West Once Again

The Boise State Broncos were expected to win nine games in 2022. That’s exactly what they did. Now, the season win total for Boise State is 8.5 with the under at -125. The over 8.5 is -105. The Broncos figure to be tough in the Mountain West. But the non-conference college football schedule is challenging, with road games at Washington and Memphis, along with a home game versus UCF. The 2023 Boise State Broncos stats will be impressive in Mountain West games. It’s how Boise State plays in the others that will determine how many wins the Broncos reach this season.

Broncos Will Take the Land Route

Boise State quarterback Taylen Green isn’t a bad passer. And the Broncos probably have the best group of receivers in the Mountain West. But what the Broncos do best is run the football. Green is a big part of that. He ran for 586 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

The team’s two primary workhorses in the backfield return. George Holani ran for a team-high 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns. Ashton Jeanty added 821 yards and seven more touchdowns.

Green completed 61.3% of his passes last year and threw for 2,042 yards and 14 touchdowns against six interceptions. He took over for Hank Bachmeier in September and is primed to put up better numbers this season.

The Broncos have to replace two starters on the offensive line. But the key cogs in the offense return. Don’t be surprised to see the 2023 Boise State Broncos stats exceed last year’s on the offensive side of the ball.

Boise State has a few players to replace on defense, particularly in the secondary. Six starters from last year’s squad, which the NCAAF rankings had No. 7 in total defense. A lot of second-string players return on the defensive side of the ball, so it’s not as though the six new starters will be without experience.

Leading tackler DJ Schramm returns to man the linebacker position. But he’s going to need a bit of help. If the Broncos can get pressure on the quarterback it will help mask a few of the shortcomings in the defensive backfield.

National Championship Odds: Boise State Massive Longshots for Good Reason

The Broncos will be a good football team. They won’t necessarily be a great football team. A Mountain West championship is realistic. A national championship is not.

Conference Odds: Boise State Has to Win on Road

The Broncos are favored to win the Mountain West this year. Last year, Boise State was the second choice in the betting behind Fresno State. While consistently one of the top teams in the Mountain West, the Broncos haven’t won the conference title since 2019. This season a number of the tougher conference games will be on the road.

Regular Season Wins: Broncos Can’t Stumble to Reach 9 Wins

Boise State is playing a tougher schedule than it frequently does. That’s not all by design, however, as the Broncos have Mountain West games at San Diego State and at Fresno State. The Broncos do get Air Force at home to end the regular season. But those should be the three toughest games on the conference schedule.

The Broncos will be tested out of the gate with a game at Washington. Boise State returns home to play the UCF Golden Knights and then North Dakota before traveling to San Diego State and Memphis on consecutive weeks. September is going to be a tough month for Boise State.

The Broncos haven’t had a losing season since 1997 and they’re not going to have one this year. But getting nine wins is a tough task compared to picking up seven victories. If the Broncos can go 3-2 in September, they’ll have an excellent chance of getting to win wins on the season.
