Georgia Southern Eagles 2023 Future Odds
Georgia Southern Offense Should Light Up the Scoreboard

Georgia Southern‘s high-powered offense should be going full throttle again this football season. After earning a berth in the Camellia Bowl last season, the Eagles are armed with a new quarterback and bowl aspirations for the new season. The Georgia Southern Eagles future odds are giving the team a bit more respect than they’ve had in recent years.

Davis Brin Arrives to Run the Offense
It’s never easy replacing a player who threw for 4,200 yards and 27 touchdowns. But Georgia Southern could actually be better at the quarterback position this year after landing Tulsa’s Davis Brin. Brin threw for 5,400 yards and 35 touchdowns for Tulsa over the past two seasons. Now, he’s coming to an offense that seems suited for his skills.
He has plenty of weapons to get the ball to. Two of the team’s three leading receivers are back for another season. Leading rusher Jalen White also returns, so the offense-skill players are there.
A solid offense line is back for the most part. Georgia Southern allowed the second-fewest sacks in the nation last year. That’s pretty impressive for a team that passed the ball 612 times.
The defense is another story. Georgia Southern is undersized up front and the secondary leaves a bit to be desired. The linebackers weren’t all that and Tarian Lee comes in from Texas A&M to help out.
The Eagles finished higher in the NCAAF standings than they were expected to last season. Georgia Southern had a win total of 4.5 and won six games. Georgia Southern won’t be sneaking up on anybody this season. But they should be just as exciting to watch.
National Championship Odds: Not Going to Happen
While Georgia Southern can score on almost anybody, the defense isn’t anywhere near championship caliber. This team allowed 34 or more points in eight games last season. If the Eagles played one of the top teams in the country, it would be ugly.
Conference Odds: Georgia Southern Could Surprise, But Unlikely
The Georgia Southern Eagles future odds are quite a bit lower this season than a year ago. Last season, the Eagles were +10000 to win the Sun Belt. This season, the team is just +1400. That’s a huge difference and also a result of picking up six wins in the NCAAF football games a year ago. The offense is good enough to get the job done. The defense is bad enough to cost the team a win or two.
Regular Season Wins: Line Move Makes it Tough for Eagles
The slight line move in the Georgia Southern Eagles future odds in the win total is a big one. The difference between 6.0 wins and 6.5 wins is key, especially for those who placed their college football bets on the over. If you bet over 6.0, a 6-6 record will at least return your bet on a push. But betting over 6.5 means you need Georgia Southern to go 7-5 or better to not lose your wager.
Georgia Southern saw seven games decided by a touchdown or less last season. The Eagles were 4-3 in those games. If Georgia Southern can win more close ones than it loses, the team has a solid chance to go over 6.5. If luck doesn’t run its way, Georgia Southern may have a tough time getting to six wins.
Those who enjoy fast-paced, high-flying football are going to want to find the Eagles on television. Georgia Southern will look good on offense and the defense will make the opposing offense look pretty solid. It will be another fun football season in Statesboro, Georgia. It just may not be a winning one.
