A Suspended Start
It has always been a real headache for NFL teams when it comes to facing Alvin Kamara. Since he burst onto the scene in 2017, he’s shown his knack for slipping past opponents. His jaw-dropping performances earned him the starting spot from day one in New Orleans.
But, how has the 2023 NFL season been for Kamara? Due to an insignificant Las Vegas bar brawl, the NFL suspended the former Offensive Rookie of the year for three football games of the current season.
This three-game suspension is definitely going to throw a wrench in the Alvin Kamara stats, and he’s going to need a whole lot of grit and luck to get anywhere near the consistent results we’ve grown accustomed to.
More Than Just Rushing Yards
We all know Kamara’s bread and butter is running the ball, but what sets him apart from other running backs is his knack for finding those gaps in the defense and becoming a prime passing option for his quarterbacks. Combine that with his yards after the catch, and that was good enough to earn the trust of his previous quarterback, legendary Drew Brees.
When it comes to rushing yards, the Alvin Kamara stats have always been pretty steady, with the 2020 pro football season being the standout for yards per carry. He racked up 932 yards on 187 carries, consistently lighting up the NFL scoreboard.
Though he’s never quite breached the 1,000-yard mark in a single season, his receiving numbers back up Kamara’s undeniable talent. But those numbers have dwindled since Brees’ departure, and the last two seasons have been riddled with uncertainty regarding the Saints’ starting quarterback.
In the 2022 season, he had up to 3 quarterbacks. Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston, and the Swiss Army knife Taysom Hill. Practically no player will have the desired connection with so many changes at the controls.
Meanwhile, let’s take a gander at the Alvin Kamara stats.
