2024 NFL Combine Odds: 40-Yard Dash Record at +350

With Super Bowl 58 in the rearview mirror, teams are now turning their attention to the next big event on the NFL calendar, the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

In addition to meeting with all 32 NFL teams, many of the top college football prospects are put through positional and agility drills such as the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, and vertical jump. NFL head coaches, general managers and other talent evaluators then use those results in preparation for next month’s draft in Detroit.

Bettors, of course, can also now wager on these results. NFL Betting Odds are available for practically every drill including the bench press, though it varies by state.

With that in mind, here are some of the top available 2024 NFL combine odds.

Will the 40-Yard Dash Record Be Broken?

  • Yes: +350

Bettors pining for plus odds may want to consider sprinkling some money on Jon Ross’ 40-yard dash time. The former University of Washington receiver turned in the fastest 40-time ever at the 2017 NFL combine, clocking in at 4.22 seconds. That broke the previous record of 4.24 seconds.

Ross did not compete in the rest of the drills because of a sore calf, but it made no difference to NFL evaluators. They’d already made up their minds about Ross being a top NFL Draft pick. Weeks later, Ross was selected ninth overall by the Cincinnati Bengals.

With a 4.37-second time in high school, Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson will be in the mix. However, Wilson will obviously need to turn it up a couple notches to out-run Ross. Fellow wideouts Troy Franklin (Oregon), Lideatrick ‘Tulu’ Griffin (Mississippi State) and Xavier Worthy (Texas) are other names to watch.

Those looking for alternative bets in this market can wager on the top 40-time being faster or slower than 4.27 seconds. At the moment, both yes/no have equal -120 odds. They can also wager on the position of the top performer, with receiver holding the shortest odds at -200, followed by cornerback (+150) and running back (+200).

Quickest 20-Yard Shuttle

  • Faster Than 3.88 Seconds: -110
  • Slower Than 3.88 Seconds: -130

Also referred to as the 5-10-5 shuttle, this drill is designed to test lateral quickness and change of direction abilities. For particularly receivers and cornerbacks, it is often a strong barometer of their ability to work in tight spaces.

While Iowa receiver Kevin Kasper completed the drill in 3.73 seconds in 2001, the fastest time in the last decade belongs to Oregon State receiver Brandin Cooks, who clocked in at 3.81 seconds in 2014. New Orleans wound up drafting the Biletnikoff winner — who had 226 catches for 3,272 yards and 24 touchdowns in three seasons, per NCAAF stats — in the first round at 20th overall.

Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba posted the quickest time at last year’s event, clocking in at 3.93 seconds.

Other top times belong to cornerbacks Jason Allen (3.81 in 2006), Bobby McCain (3.82 in 2015), and B.W. Webb (3.84 in 2013) and safety Justin Simmons (3.85 in 2016).

Longest Broad Jump

Higher Than 11’5”: -135

Lower Than 11’5”: -105

Former UConn cornerback and first-round pick Byron Jones is still the record-holder for the longest broad jump at the combine. Jones recorded a jump of 12 feet, 3 inches in 2015.

If bettors are feeling bold, they can wager on that record being broken. Current 2024 NFL combine odds are +750, so there is quite a bit of value of hand.

As is the case with other drills, sportsbooks are also taking bets on the best result at this year’s event. In this case, that means a broad jump higher than 11 feet, 5 inches.

Kansas State cornerback Julius Brents narrowly beat that last year with a jump of 11 feet, 6 inches. That was the longest jump since 2020, when Michigan receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones (11’7”), Southern Illinois safety Jeremy Chinn (11’6”) and TCU receiver Jalen Reagor (11’6”) all had impressive showings.

Highest Vertical Jump

Over 43.5 Inches: -145

Under 43.5 Inches: +105

Former Ohio State cornerback Donald Washington and Georgia receiver Chris Conley are tied for the highest vertical jump in NFL combine history at 45 inches in 2009 and 2015, respectively. Odds of that record being broken this year are +300.

The 2024 NFL combine odds project the top jump to be 43.5 inches, a mark that’s been surpassed just eight times since 2009. Illinois safety Quan Martin was the top performer last year, recording the fourth highest jump in combine history at 44 inches. He is one of only eight players to hit that threshold.

Should that feat be matched, bettors can cash in at -145 odds.

Most Bench Press Reps

More Than 40 Reps: -105

Fewer Than 40 Reps: -135

Former Oregon State defensive tackle Stephen Paea holds the NFL combine record on the bench press with 49 reps in 2011. Since then, nobody has recorded more than 44 reps, a mark shared by defensive tackle Dontari Poe (2012) and guard Netane Muti (2020).

Offensive lineman Mitch Petrus and defensive lineman Mike Kudla are tied for the second-best performance in this event’s history with 45 reps apiece in 2010 and 2006, respectively.

Sportsbooks are offering the odds of Paea’s record falling at +600.

Bettors can also get Over 40 reps at -105.
