Russell Westbrook Next Team Odds: If Not Clippers, Then Who?

A Look at Russell Westbrook Next Team Odds

Westbrook Heading to Gotham City?

Russell Westbrook found a home with the LA Clippers after a torturous time with the Lakers, but is there a chance he moves on from Southern California? Let’s take a look at some Russell Westbrook Next Team Odds and see what the market thinks about his future.

The New York Knicks are favorites to land Westbrook should he fail to return to the Clippers, with Tom Thibedou’s team currently listed at +200 in the marketplace.

The Knicks were ousted in the second round of the NBA Playoffs this season, but seem to have a steady point guard rotation in Jalen Brunson and Immanuel Quickley. Given Thibedou’s reluctance to stretch his rotations, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Westbrook to make the move to NYC and therefore provides some nice betting opportunities in this market.

The Chicago Bulls are next in line in the market and are +300 to land the former All-Star guard. A reunion with Billy Donovan in the Windy City makes much more sense from a personal perspective, especially with Lonzo Ball’s future very much up in the air.

That said, the team doesn’t need another high-usage player to go with Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan and if anything the priority for them should be to be a floor spacer – something that Westbrook very much doesn’t provide.

The teams atop the NBA standings are unlikely to want to bring in the veteran point guard given his play style, so what does that really leave?

Heat Culture the Perfect Remedy

The Miami Heat are currently +650 to be the next destination for Westbrook should he leave the Clippers and the fit makes perfect sense for both parties.

Erik Spoelstra’s side is coming off another strong campaign and a team filled with spot-up shooters makes the most sense for Westbrook to have the greatest on-court impact.

The Heat have a strong support cast that showed themselves capable of hitting wide-open 3-pointers at a record level en route to an NBA Finals appearance and having Westbrook run pick-and-roll action with Bam Adebayo alongside those role players could make for a formidable fit that brings the best out of the future Hall of Fame guard.

Westbrook’s work ethic and veteran experience would also fit perfectly with the Heat Culture mantra and if Miami falls short in their bid to lure Damian Lillard away from Portland then this seems the most natural fallback option.

The Brooklyn Nets are another team stacked with an outside shooting that could best utilize Westbrook skillset.

The Nets are +1300 to land the 34-year-old and could represent the best long-shot odds given how the current roster is constructed.

Brooklyn is filled with 3-and-D players that could thrive having a point guard capable of collapsing the defense. Their first-round playoff exit highlighted their need for depth and experience off the bench; something that Westbrook could add at an affordable price.

Final Look at Russell Westbrook Next Team Odds

This market is specifically Russell Westbrook Next Team Odds if not on the Clippers, which is an important caveat in itself.

There’s a strong chance he remains a Clipper given how well he fit with the team and the improvement we saw in his production in such a short period of time. His relationship with Paul George and Marcus Morris will certainly play a part as will the bond he built with coach Ty Lue.

That said, the fact that this market removes the most likely course of action means that we can afford to take a look at some long-odds teams instead.

The Nets were a terrific NBA spreads team after their decision to move on from Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, but the team’s ceiling was very apparent and they will need changes if they’re to be a part of the postseason again in 2024.

At +1300 they are the best bet in this market. Westbrook ticks all the boxes in terms of what he can add to the dressing room off the court and his on-court style should maximize the talent they have on the perimeter.

Look for Miami to also be active if they miss out on other targets, but given where they set their sights we expect them to keep swinging for the fences before looking to commit to another veteran piece off the bench.
