Lazio Finally Grab First Win

Two of Serie A’s Best Meet on Saturday

Lazio concerningly dropped their first two matches of the Serie A season vs. two teams they were favored against. Finally, they won their first season win as they defeated defending champions Napoli, 2-1. On Saturday, Lazio heads to Turin for a match vs. Juventus. Juve are unbeaten so far, at 2-1-0, and all their focus is on Serie A this season as they were banned from UEFA competition. We’ll take a look at the Juventus vs Lazio odds in a match between two of the best Serie A teams.

JUV Juventus vs Lazio LAZ

Date & Time:
Location: Allianz Stadium, Turin, Italy

Head-to-Head:

Juventus have gotten better Serie A results in this fixture in recent seasons. They’re 6-2-2 in the last ten Serie A meetings. Last season, these teams split their Serie A matches. Lazio won 2-1 at home, and Moise Kean scored twice as Juventus won the reverse fixture 3-0. Juve also eliminated Lazio in the 2023 Coppa Italia quarterfinals as Gleison Bremer scored the game’s only goal.

Juventus Favorites on Saturday

Juventus have started off the 2023-24 Serie A season unbeaten through their first two matches. Massimiliano Allegri’s side has conceded just one goal through three matches and took down Empoli 2-0 just before the international break. Danilo and Federico Chiesa got on the scoresheet for the Bianconeri. However, Chiesa came off with a muscle injury and missed international duty with Italy as a result.

Chiesa is doubtful for Saturday’s match. Regardless, the Juventus vs Lazio odds price the Bianconeri as -115 favorites for Saturday’s match. If Chiesa is unable to suit up, Arkadisz Milik and Moise Kean are options to replace him. Paul Pogba, who recently returned from injury, tested positive for testosterone.

Pogba is now suspended provisionally and could face up to a four-year ban if he was doping knowingly. Pogba could have been a key player for Juve this season, but his future with the club is now in doubt. Adrien Rabiot and Manuel Locatelli should now be the centerpieces of the Bianconeri’s midfield.

Lazio Take Down Champions

Lazio opened up the season with a 2-1 loss at Lecce. Even more disappointingly, they fell 1-0 to Genoa at home in their next match. With their backs against the wall, Lazio put in a good performance vs. Scudetto-holders Napoli. Luis Alberto put the Biancocelesti ahead on a brilliant flick past Napoli keeper Alex Meret. A heavily deflected Piotr Zielinski shot beat Lazio keeper Ivan Provedel soon after to level the score.

Still, Provedel was stellar and made some key saves in the match. Lazio went ahead in the second half as midfielder Daichi Kamada scored his first goal for the club. The Biancocelesti had two goals called back for offside and settled for a 2-1 victory in Naples. Felipe Anderson assisted both goals in the match.

Ciro Immobile is typically one of the Serie A top scorers and has scored once in three matches so far. It’s taken some time for Lazio to recover from losing star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but the win vs. Napoli has undoubtedly built some momentum. However, heading on the road to Juventus is never an easy trip.

Match Analysis & Odds

Lazio hasn’t won a Serie A match at Juventus since 2017. Since then, the Biancocelesti are 0-1-4 at the Allianz Stadium. The Juventus vs Lazio odds price the Bianconeri as -115 moneyline favorites here. Juve -0.5, -1 also shows +120 odds, and they’ve scored at least twice in each of their last five home Serie A games vs. Lazio.

While an absent Federico Chiesa would certainly hurt the Juventus attack, they still have Dusan Vlahovic up top. Vlahovic scored in Bianconeri’s first two games but didn’t find the net at Empoli. Lazio +0.5, +1 displays -140 odds as they’re expected to keep things close on the road here. The visitors are still going for their first clean sheet of the season, and it won’t be easy to shutout Juve here.

Lazio is also +325 moneyline underdogs for Saturday’s game and would drop to 1-3 with a loss. They’ll certainly want to continue to build momentum ahead of next Tuesday’s Champions League opener vs. Atletico Madrid. Here, a draw comes in at +260 odds, and under 2.5 goals are priced at -130.
