Week 5 in the 2022 NFL season sees the Detroit Lions make the journey to Massachusetts to face former head coach Matt Patricia’s team the New England Patriots. The Detroit Lions look like a team on step 2 of a rebuild ladder. Last season started badly, but by the time they won the season closer against a depleted Packers, there was a reason for genuine optimism. They also turned the 2nd pick in the draft into hometown hero Aidan Hutchinson, who looks ideally placed to bring some firepower and aggression to coach Dan Campbell’s team. They backed up the pick of Hutchinson by taking Alabama wideout Jameson Williams, who should help Jared Goff get back to the form that made him a number one pick in the first place.

New England looks to be starting a new era in Massachusetts. With the Tom Brady rein firmly in the history books, they will hope year 2 for Mac Jones marks the change from promising rookie to genuine star signal caller. Former Lions head coach Matt Patricia is back on the coaching staff, and Bill Belichick is working hard to prove to himself and the world that he doesn’t need Tom Brady to win Super Bowls.

Lions vs Patriots don’t face off often, being from different conferences, but the Pats hold the wood here, winning 7 games to 5. The last game in 2018 was won comfortably by the Michigan team 26-10, so it’s not out of the question. How will the NFL betting odds see this one going?
