AppleTV has unveiled a new preview for the upcoming documentary series titled Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend, which focuses on Argentina’s journey to success in Qatar.
The four-part series provides an exclusive look into Lionel Messi’s participation in five FIFA World Cup tournaments, ending with his triumph in the desert.
Last month, fans were provided with an initial preview of the impending series with the release of a video. The movie showcased archival footage from Messi’s early years, footage from the Argentina team bus, and interviews with Leo Messi himself and soccer legend Gary Lineker.
Now, producers have released further footage from the docuseries, which will premiere on February 21, including interviews with his other colleagues from Argentina.
The 90-second short includes appearances by Enzo Fernandez, a player for Chelsea, Emiliano Martinez, a goalkeeper for Aston Villa, and Rodrigo De Paul, a midfielder for Atletico Madrid.
They talk about their experience of playing with Messi at the most crucial moments in Qatar. De Paul discloses the instructions given to his teammates by the Argentine captain.
De Paul says: “I can’t fail you,” as he stares into the camera.
The emotion from those four words alone is more than enough evidence as to why Argentina prevailed as the World Cup 2022 champions, and it’s this sort of soccer news that gives us chills.
Furthermore, the teaser features exclusive footage from inside the Argentina medical facility and the tumultuous aftermath of the nation’s triumph against France in the final.
The series will chronicle his journey from his initial appearance on the international stage to Qatar, encompassing several World Cup disappointments and even premature retirement. The documentary also guarantees the most intimate interviews with Messi so far and discussions with coaches, teammates, passionate fans, rivals, and analysts.
