These Athletes Had a Historic 2023 Season Dominating in the Biggest Sports Stages

Chasing History 🐐
They say records were made to be broken and with that, we will take a look back on five of the most incredible record-setting performances in the world of sports.
Favorite Five in ‘23
🎾 Novak Djokovic
There was a time when ATP tennis rumors swirled as to which one of the holy trinity of elite tennis players was the best. We had Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic all making compelling cases as to why they were, in fact, the best of the best.
Well, we wonder no more, as Joker continues to put daylight between him and the rest of the tennis players of his generation. or any other for that matter. He finished 2023 as the No. 1 player in the world for the eighth time and set a record by becoming the first player to win 24 Grand Slam titles after winning the U.S. Open in September.
He also became the first player to win three of four Grand Slams in a season for the fourth time. Rafael Nadal may be the King of the Clay but Novak Djokovic reigns supreme overall with three French Open, four U.S. Open, seven Wimbledon, and ten Australian Open crowns.

🏀 LeBron James
Love him or hate him, you can’t help but include him. LeBron James has more records than Virgin but he’s now got the one that has stood since 1984.
In case you missed the NBA news from earlier this year, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is no longer the most prolific scorer in NBA history after LeBron deposited the 38,388th point of his legendary career on February 7, 2023. Of all the NBA games LeBron has played, that one stands out as one of his favorite memories.

⚽ Lionel Messi
In the world of professional soccer, Lionel Messi’s stats are jaw-dropping by any standards, and at the age of 36, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down. His career is littered with awards, too numerous to mention, but we will point out that Messi just won a record eighth Ballon d’Or, soccer’s most prestigious individual award given to the game’s best player.

🤸♀️ Simone Biles
We seem to be entering an era where the very best athletes in their respective sports are all alive at the same time. This list would not be complete without including the unequivocal GOAT of gymnastics.
When you have four tricks that you’ve developed that are so stunning, they name the trick after you, it’s fair to say you’ve not only arrived but you own the sport.
So, what did Ms. Biles do this year to land her on this list? Well, she recently won her eighth all-around US Gymnastics Championships title and broke a 90-year record set by Alfred Jochim back in 1930.
In that event, she notched a score of 118.450 which was 3.9 points ahead of her nearest competitor. In gymnastics competitions, that is considered a blowout. Regardless of the margin, there is no shame in losing to the Greatest of All Time.
American gymnast Simone Biles is the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year for 2023. This is the third time Biles has won the award.

🏁Max Verstappen
Here we have yet another GOAT on our list who added to his legacy in 2023. Max Verstappen set a slew of records this season as he dominated the F1 season like no one has ever done before.
His 10 consecutive wins broke the previous record of nine set by Sebastian Vettel in 2013. But that’s hardly the end of it as he also smashed his previous record of 15 wins in a season by taking the checkered flag 19 times this season.

We should also note that Mad Max set the season points record with 575, obliterating the 454 points he delivered last season.

Busting bookmakers and taking their money is his greatest joy in life. He’s been around the block more than once, knows the players both on and off the field of battle, and uses his experience to serve the bookies a heaping plate of humble pie washed down by a warm glass of their salty tears. You can find him in any number of Vegas books, sniping weak lines and getting paid to do it.
