White Sox Shooter? Gun Snuck By Security Injures Two

White Sox Shooter: Accidental or Not?

The incident took place during the fourth inning of Friday’s game between the Chicago White Sox and the Oakland Athletics at Guaranteed Rate Field. A gun snuck past security was later determined to be the source of the bullets.

The shooting was found to be an accidental discharge of that gun snuck past the metal detectors by one of the victims of the rogue bullets. This victim, a woman, reportedly snuck the gun by hiding it in the folds of her belly fat. The investigation is still ongoing to clarify if this White Sox Shooter was indeed accidental or not.

There was another woman, the elder victim, who was unfortunate enough to be caught in the crossfire of this incident but suffering non-life-threatening injuries. She sustained a gunshot wound to her leg, while the younger woman had a graze wound to her abdomen, the latter being reportedly the accidental (?) White Sox Shooter. Both injured individuals were aged 42 and 26.

During the Commotion

The White Sox swiftly issued a statement after the game, assuring the public that an investigation was already in progress.

Chicago’s interim police superintendent, Fred Waller, had already revealed that the shooting had likely resulted from a gun going off within the stadium premises, dispelling the possibility of an external source. The investigation is still diligently exploring all leads and avenues, leaving no stone unturned. Waller mentioned that the police department initially urged a halt to the game when they discovered the shooting. Still, the game continued because the police felt there was no active threat in spite of the two victims.

Still, an after-game concert by Vanilla Ice was canceled to seek out the source of the bullets, since the police needed the lights to be on during the search.

As of the moment of this writing, there is no known reason for the woman to hide the gun and take it to the game. We’re still lacking the WHY.

An Already-Challenging Season for the White Sox… And Now This!

The repercussions of this White Sox shooter incident are felt not only by the White Sox organization but also by the fans who look forward to the summer of baseball. This alarming event comes amidst a challenging season of low MLB team stats for the White Sox, plus others both on and off the field.

The team underwent significant changes in the front office, with key figures like vice president Kenny Williams and general manager Rick Hahn being let go. In the midst of this turmoil, Hall of Fame manager Tony La Russa returned as a consultant. On the field, the team’s lackluster performance, with a 52-80 record, has contributed to the overall sense of disappointment, as they entered Tuesday with really crappy MLB standings 2023, in other words, the fourth-worst record in MLB.

As investigations continue, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of robust security measures at sporting events, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all fans in attendance.
