Overview of the Missouri Tigers Standings

The Missouri Tigers basketball team had a tumultuous NCAAB season in 2021-2022, finishing with a record of 15-17 overall and 6-12 in conference play. The team faced numerous challenges throughout the season, including injuries to key players and a tough schedule in the competitive Southeastern Conference, which affected the Missouri Tigers Standings.

Despite the setbacks, the Tigers showed flashes of brilliance and had several impressive wins over top-ranked opponents, which had an impact on the Missouri Tigers Standings. One of the team’s biggest victories came in January when they upset the 12th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide 92-86 in a thrilling overtime game. Missouri also earned a notable win over the 24th-ranked Utah State Aggies in November, winning 81-67.

Unfortunately, Missouri struggled with consistency throughout the season and struggled to maintain momentum after big wins, leading to a drop in their Missouri Tigers Standings. The team suffered several tough losses, including a 91-65 defeat to the 11th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in February and a 72-68 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels in March.

Despite the team’s overall struggles, several Missouri players had standout seasons. Guard Javon Pickett led the team in scoring with an average of 13.6 points per game, while forward Kobe Brown was a dominant force on the boards with 6.7 rebounds per game. Point guard DaJuan Gordon also had a strong season, averaging 10.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

As the season progressed, the Tigers continued to work on improving their play and building team chemistry. Although the Tigers did not achieve the level of success they had hoped for, they remained committed to improving and laying the foundation for future success and a better Missouri Tigers Standings.

Before Betting on Tigers, Check Out These Tips:

Keep an Eye on Injuries

Injuries can significantly impact a team’s performance, so it’s important to monitor the Tigers’ roster and any potential injuries that may affect their play. A key injury to a star player could dramatically impact the team’s chances of winning and impact your betting strategy.

Be Aware of Momentum

The Tigers’ performance can often be influenced by momentum, both positive and negative. If they’re on a winning streak, consider betting on them to continue their success. Conversely, if they’ve been struggling with losses, it may be best to avoid betting on them until they show signs of improvement.

Don’t Overlook the Odds

It’s important to pay attention to the odds when betting on the Tigers. Even if they’re playing well, their odds may be unfavorable if they’re up against a particularly strong opponent. Keep an eye on the point spread, as well as any other relevant betting factors, to ensure you’re making informed decisions.

Consider the Competition

The Tigers play in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), one of the most competitive conferences in college basketball. When placing bets on the Tigers, consider their opponent and how they match up against them. Look at their head-to-head record, recent performance against similar teams, and their strengths and weaknesses relative to the Tigers.

Missouri Tigers Basketball History

The Missouri Tigers are a Division I program based in Columbia, Mo. Missouri left the Big 12, a conference it had been associated with since 1907, for the Southeastern Conference in 2012. The addition of not only Missouri, but also Texas A&M, expanded the SEC to 14 teams.

Missouri has a strong history on the hardwood. The Tigers have appeared in the NCAA Tournament 28 times, with five trips to the Elite Eight. They last advanced there in 2009, when they lost 82-75 to No. 1 seed UConn to finish 31-7.

The only other time the Tigers hit 30 wins was in 2012, when they won the Big 12 Tournament. However, that season ended prematurely. The Tigers were stunned 86-84 by Norfolk State in the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first No. 2 seed to fall to a No. 15 since 2001.

That marked the second of five straight first-round losses for the Tigers, who have not won an NCAA Tournament game since 2010. They last made the Big Dance in 2021, falling in the round of 64 to eighth-seeded Oklahoma.

Missouri also reached the Elite Eight in 1944, 1976, 1994 and 2002. Its overall NCAA Tournament record is 22-28, although its 1994 tournament run was vacated by the NCAA after a player, Jevon Crudup, was revealed to have received improper benefits from sports agents.

Big 12 & League Tourney Titles

The Tigers won the Big 12 regular season title that season, then captured league tournament titles in 2009 and 2012. They have yet to win an SEC title.

Missouri is currently coached by Dennis Gates, the former two-time Horizon League Coach of the Year at Cleveland State. Gates replaced Cuonzo Martin prior to the 2022-23 season. While the Tigers were picked to finish 11th in the SEC preseason media poll, Gates and Co. were determined to overcome those NCAAB odds, debuting at No. 20 in the AP Top 25 poll following a 17-6 start.

Prior to that, the last time the Tigers were ranked was in 2020-21. The Tigers cracked the Top 10 that season but sputtered down the stretch to a 16-10 finish (8-8 SEC play). Martin was fired after going 12-21 the following season.

Missouri’s postseason history also includes eight appearances in the National Invitational Tournament, where its overall record is 2-8. The Tigers’ most recent trip was in 2014, when they reached the second round.

Notably, Missouri has established a quality pipeline to the NBA, with an alumni base that includes Michael Porter Jr. and 2021 Sixth Man of the Year Jordan Clarkson. DeMarre Carroll, Keyon Dooling, Larry Drew, Anthony Peeler, Kareem Rush and Steve Stipanovich are among the other former Tigers to reach the NBA.
