Soccer Betting: Bundesliga Matchday 4 Odds

Bayern Munich Still Perfect

Surprises Near Top of Bundesliga Table

Bundesliga Matchday 3 had a little bit of everything. Werder Bremen scored three goals at Dortmund after the 89th minute to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in league history. Bayern Munich was back to their old ways, smashing VfL Bochum 7-0. Hoffenheim and Union Berlin also pulled off impressive upsets. Interestingly, Bayern is the only team from last season’s top four currently occupying a top four slot. Now, let’s take a look at the Bundesliga Matchday 4 odds and review all of the latest betting news.

Mainz 05 vs Bayer Leverkusen

Fourth place Mainz has been one of the surprises of the early season, with two wins and a draw. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen has been the league’s most disappointing team and is yet to win. Mainz remained unbeaten with a 2-1 road win over FC Augsburg, while Leverkusen dropped a third consecutive match. They’ll meet on Saturday as Mainz host Leverkusen.

Leverkusen is lacking in creativity at the moment and Hoffenheim smashed them 3-0 last weekend. Patrik Schick… after extending his contract in the Summer, is yet to score a goal this season. It’s not time to panic, but last season’s third-place team continues to drop valuable points. Still, they’re favored for Saturday’s match, priced at +140 odds on the road.

Last season, Mainz broke a three-game home losing streak to Bayer but are +175 underdogs in this pick’em. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga Matchday 4 odds list a draw at +290. Take note that these teams have only drawn once in the last ten meetings.

Schalke 04 vs Union Berlin

Despite getting heavily out-possessed, Union Berlin stayed unbeaten with a 2-1 over RB Leipzig on Matchday 3. The Bundesliga’s third-place team will put their unbeaten record on the line at Schalke on Saturday. Schalke will have other ideas though, as they look for their first Bundesliga win since May 2021.

Union Berlin continues to exceed expectations and comes into this match as +125 favorites. The Bundesliga player Jordan Siebatcheu has gotten his Bundesliga career off to a good start, with two goals in three matches; however, he’s picked up a knock injury and is questionable for Saturday’s match. Schalke, who have drawn their last two matches, is +210 home underdogs but -145 favorites to cover the ½-goal spread.

Union and Schalke have drawn in three of their four previous Bundesliga meetings and a draw is priced at +275. Schalke 04 picked up their first shutout of the season last weekend in a scoreless draw with Wolfsburg. The over/under goals total is 2½ but only four goals total have been scored in the last three meetings.

Hertha BSC vs Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund didn’t play particularly well vs Werder Bremen but still led 2-0 deep into the second half. Then, they completely collapsed as Werder Bremen scored three goals in the 89th minute or later. It was the first time a Bundesliga team had ever mounted a two-goal comeback win that late in a game. Certainly, it’s an unwanted record for Dortmund and they’ll look to bounce back at Hertha Berlin this Saturday.

Last season, Dortmund also blew a lead to lose at Hertha but are solid -135 favorites for this Bundesliga match. Concerningly, three of Dortmund’s forwards are injured but Anthony Modeste and Youssoufa Moukoko are available. The Bundesliga Matchday 4 odds price Hertha BSC at +310 odds but they haven’t won this season. That includes the DFB-Pokal, where they lost to second division Eintracht Braunschweig on penalties in the first round.

Dortmund scored at least two goals in their last four visits to the Olympiastadion. At least three goals have been scored in each of those matches and the O/U goal total is three for this match. This is a game that Dortmund desperately need to win to boost their confidence but don’t rule out the unexpected again.

Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach

No Lewandowski, no problem for Bayern Munich. Bayern recorded their second blowout of the season on Matchday 3 by defeating VfL Bochum 7-0. Sadio Mane has scored three goals in his first three Bundesliga matches and first-place Bayern has averaged five goals per game. Bayern host Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday, which hasn’t always been an easy game for them. With these teams in first and second place, this is one of the Bundesliga highlights Matchday 4.

Last season, Bayern Munich failed to beat Borussia Monchengladbach in any of their three meetings. Gladbach embarrassed Bayern 5-0 in the DFB-Pokal and also beat them 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium in January. This could be another wild match as the over/under goal total is set at four.

Meanwhile, Bayern show -350 odds to win, while Gladbach is priced at an intriguing +750. A draw, which Monchengladbach held Bayern to at home last season, is listed at long +620 odds. Bayern, who have outscored their opponents 15 to one this season, is a two-goal favorite; however, Gladbach is implied to be slightly more likely to cover the spread, at -115 odds.

Werder Bremen vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Werder Bremen’s three goals in their incredible comeback win vs Borussia Dortmund were all scored by substitutes. Bremen’s substitutes spurred them to their first win of the season and it was the kind of win that could have lasting effects. The goals have been there for Werder, as they’ve scored at least two goals in each of their three matches. The problem has been defense, as they’ve conceded twice in each match. They’ll need to change that when they host winless Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

For those who like to bet on Bundesliga teams, Werder Bremen comes into this pick’em as +155 favorites to win. In what should be one of the most competitive games of the weekend, Frankfurt is priced at +170 odds. Since losing to Bayern Munich 6-1 on opening day, Frankfurt has managed two 1-1 draw. Another drawing shows +265 odds in the sportsbook.

Note that Frankfurt has scored in each of their last 11 matches vs Werder Bremen, but they’re winless in the last two matches. Werder Bremen’s Oliver Burke has found the net twice in just 28 minutes this season for a ridiculous average of 6.43 goals per 90 minutes. Surely, he won’t be able to keep up the pace but the superb could prove to be a handful for Frankfurt.
