CFL Awards Odds: Kind of Like NFL Awards But More Inclusive

And Like the NFL Awards, CFL Awards Has Its Own Show

This is football, whether Canadian or American, folks bust their tails to win and/or serve their community. Other than the Grey Cup, the CFL’s holy grail, there are several awards handed out to commemorate these good people. In fact, some of these CFL Awards odds are available for betting online. And while some are like the NFL’s, the CFL has awards that recognize more contributors – even referees!

What are the CFL Awards?

The CFL Awards as of 2022

The Grey Cup is the CFL’s championship trophy and is awarded to the team that wins the title game, like the Vince Lombardi Trophy in the NFL. And the two division champions are also presented with trophies.

As of this year, there are also a dozen individual CFL Awards with nine dedicated to the players and coaches. These are:

  • Most Outstanding Player
  • Most Outstanding Canadian
  • Most Outstanding Defensive Player
  • Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
  • Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
  • Most Outstanding Rookie
  • Annis Stukus Trophy (Coach of the Year)
  • Tom Pate Memorial Trophy (Sportsmanship)
  • Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award (Canadian only, in honor of Canada’s veterans)
  • Hugh Campbell Distinguished Leadership Award
  • Jane Mawby Tribute Award (Employee)
  • CFL Commissioner’s Award (To anyone who contributes to the CFL)

The most popular of these, and the one frequently available on the CFL Awards odds, is the “Most Outstanding Player” (MOP) award. This is like the NFL’s Most Valuable Player and typically goes to the most prolific player on a team with a winning record in the CFL standings.

Other prominent awards that are similarly awarded in the NFL include the Most Outstanding Defensive Player award, the Most Outstanding Rookie, and the Annis Stukus Trophy for Coach of the Year. The rookie award makes no distinction between offense and defense so it may be a tougher award to win.

Some awards here that are unique to the CFL include the Most Outstanding Canadian, Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, and the Most Outstanding Special Teams Player. They could also be tough to call on the CFL predictions.

Who Won the Latest CFL Awards?
