The North London Derby is one of the most hotly contested rivalries in English football and it’s back on Sunday. Arsenal host Tottenham in the first meeting of the season, with both clubs in excellent form. Both Arsenal and Tottenham are 4-1-0 heading into this Matchday 6 contest. Last season, Arsenal completed the double over Tottenham. In an October 2022 match at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal took down Tottenham, 3-1. Back in January, Arsenal also came away with a 3-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Arsenal have won four of the last five meetings between the two sides. The match on today’s EPL schedule is at the Emirates Stadium, where Tottenham hasn’t won a Premier League match since 2010.
Arsenal Destroy PSV
Mikel Arteta’s first Champions League match in charge of Arsenal couldn’t have gone much better. Bukayo Saka scored Arsenal’s first UCL goal for over six years in the eighth minute of their match vs. PSV Eindhoven. By halftime, the Gunners were up 3-0 as both Saka and Leandro Trossard managed a goal and an assist. In the second half Arsenal’s dominance continued and the captain Martin Odegaard added a fourth goal for the Gunners.
It was surely Arsenal’s most complete performance of the season and it followed a hard-fought 1-0 win at Everton last weekend. Arsenal is now on a three-game winning streak, in all competitions, and is in fourth place in the EPL rankings. Arteta has also made some big personnel calls lately, most prominently swapping in David Raya for Aaron Ramsdale.
Raya, who is on loan from Brentford, has kept two clean sheets in his first two matches as Arsenal’s goalkeeper. It remains to be seen who will start on Sunday but Raya has certainly made a case for himself. Kai Havertz and Fabio Vieira have also been alternating starts in midfield but Havertz did play well against PSV on Wednesday. Heading into the North London Derby, the Arsenal vs Tottenham odds price the hosts as -140 favorites.
Richarlison Comes Through for Spurs
Tottenham have been one of the surprises of the season so far. Things looked a bit bleak when all-time leading scorer Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich. However, Spurs are unbeaten in the Premier League through five games and are ahead of Arsenal on goal difference. Since drawing their season opener to Brentford, they’ve won four straight Premier League games.
As a result, their future EPL odds to win the title have already improved from +4000 to +2500. Life under new coach Ange Postecoglou has gotten off to an excellent start and he’s already captured the hearts of the fans. Richarlison’s Tottenham career got off to quite a rough start as he scored just one Premier League goal last season.
However, he was at the center of Tottenham’s comeback win last Saturday. Spurs fell behind to Sheffield United and the Brazilian scored a header in the 98th minute. Two minutes later he set up Dejan Kulusevski for the winner.
James Maddison has been a revelation since he joined from Leicester City and new captain Son Heung-Min scored a hat trick in a recent 5-2 win over Burnley. At 3-1-1 and a +8 goal difference, Spurs enter the weekend in second place in the Premier League.

The last North London Derby draw was in 2019 and one is priced at +330 odds here. This is one of the most crucial early-season matches and at least one team will remain undefeated after this one. This match will also be a good barometer for just how far Tottenham have come under Postecoglou.
