Travelers Championship Odds: World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler Headlines Star-Studded Field

Scheffler Boasts Best Odds at +700

On the heels of the U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, the PGA Tour heads east for the Travelers Championship. The tournament at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., boasts arguably its most competitive field ever. Eight of the top 10 players in the world will descend upon the Nutmeg State, including top-ranked Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and Rory McIlroy.

Defending champion Xander Schauffele is also in the field, along with U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark.

The course is a favorite among pros, with traditionally low scores. As a designated event, the total purse has been raised to $20 million for the golf tournament.

Here are the Travelers Championship odds.

THE FAVORITES

Scottie Scheffler (+700)

Scheffler finished third at the U.S. Open for his fifth consecutive top-5 payday. His putter has let him down at times, but the overall body of work rivals anyone in the field. Did you see his hole out for an eagle from 196 yards at LACC? Scheffler is the deserving Travelers Championship odds favorite.

Jon Rahm (+800)

The No. 1-ranked golf player in the world has never had much luck at TPC River Highlands. Rahm’s best finish came back in 2016 when he tied for 25th. Still, it’s hard to bet against the Spaniard. Rahm already has four wins on the tour this year, including a victory at the Masters in April.

Rory McIlroy (+900)

In four prior trips to TPC River Highlands, McIlroy finished in the top 20 but faded on Sunday. Will the fifth time be any different? Few are performing better at the moment. McIlroy’s had four straight top-10 finishes, including a runner-up appearance at the U.S. Open.

Patrick Cantlay (+1200)

It seems like Cantlay has been knocking on the door forever at TPC River Highlands. Hear us out. In addition to carding one of the best rounds in tournament history as an amateur, Cantlay has posted five consecutive top-15 finishes. He’s never wound up in the top 10, which is a bit bizarre, but clearly, the course favors Cantlay’s game.

Xander Schauffele (+1200)

Schauffele shot a U.S. Open-record 62 in the opening round at LACC, rocketing atop the leaderboard alongside Rickie Fowler. Though he faded a bit over the weekend, Schauffele still finished in a tie for 10th, his first top-10 payday since the Wells Fargo Championship in May. If he can come close to recapturing that form, he’ll be in the mix to repeat.

THE CONTENDERS

Viktor Hovland (+1800)

Hovland tied for seventh at the Masters and tied for second at the PGA Championship before breaking through at the Memorial Tournament earlier this month. It was his first victory on the PGA Tour this season and the fourth of his career.

Hovland clearly has some fond memories of TPC River Highlands, having turned pro there in 2019. He tied for 11th in his only other appearance in 2020.

Tony Finau (+2000)

Finau hasn’t had a top-20 finish since outlasting Rahm at the Mexico Open in April. He has six victories on the PGA Tour but has never finished in the top 10 at TPC River Highlands.

Collin Morikawa (+2000)

The 26-year-old Morikawa has not recorded a victory in nearly two years. He landed in a tie for 14th at the U.S. Open, his first top-15 finish since the Masters. That quieted some concerns about his balky back.

THE LONGSHOTS

Matt Fitzpatrick (+2800)

Fitzpatrick has recorded three top-20 finishes since failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship, proving his neck injury is no longer an issue.

Rickie Fowler (+3300)

Is the 34-year-old Fowler back on the upswing following his record round at LACC? His 75 on Sunday was a bit of a buzzkill, but three straight top-10 finishes prove the potential is still there.

Harris English (+5000)

English won the tournament in 2021, edging Kramer Hickok in a sudden-death playoff. He’s coming off an impressive eighth-place finish at the U.S. Open.
