U.S. Senior Open Odds 2023: Wisconsinite Stricker Favored in Return Home

Harrington, Alker shaping up as Stricker's top competitors

The 43rd U.S. Senior Open Championship begins Thursday at SentryWorld Golf Course in Stevens Point, Wis. Steve Stricker is a popular pick as he returns to his home state, though Padraig Harrington and Steve Elker also figure to be in the mix.

Here’s a rundown of the top U.S. Senior Open Odds 2023.

U.S. Senior Open

Day/Time:
Location: SentryWorld Golf Course in Stevens Point, Wisconsin

THE FAVORITE

Steve Stricker (+275)

Cue the nostalgia for the 56-year-old Stricker. The Wisconsin native returns to SentryWorld, where he won the WIAA state golf tournament in 1984. He’s won two consecutive senior majors and four titles in 2023, making him the rightful favorite this week.

TOP CONTENDERS

Padraig Harrington (+400)

Want to ride the hot hand? The 51-year-old Harrington looks to make it back-to-back victories after defending his Dick’s Sporting Goods Open at En-Joie Golf Club. Harrington finished with a 9-under 63 to score a one-shot victory on Sunday.

Steve Alker (+700)

Alker won his first senior major championship at the 2022 PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in Michigan, carding a 16-under 268 to defeat Stephen Ames. He’s a strong bet to challenge atop the leaderboard this week.

Jerry Kelly (+1200)

Like Stricker — the latest golf odds favorite — Kelly is returning home. The 56-year-old Wisconsinite owns two major titles, having won the 2020 and 2022 Senior Players Championships.

Ernie Els (+1600)

Els relinquished his lead heading into the final round at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open and wound up finishing third, two strokes behind Harrington. Based on the U.S. Senior Open Odds 2023, Els is a strong bet to bounce back.

Stephen Ames (+1600)

The 59-year-old Ames is on a roll. He’s already won three PGA Tour Champions events this year, including the Principal Charity Classic at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa, earlier this month.

Miguel Angel Jimenez (+1600)

The 59-year-old Spaniard scored three victories in 2022, most recently the Boeing Classic in Washington last August, and is a 21-time winner on the European Tour. Angel Jimenez will be in the mix, assuming he can live up to his U.S. Senior Open Odds 2023.

THE LONGSHOTS

David Toms (+2800)

Toms won the 2018 U.S. Senior Open in Colorado, edging Angel Jimenez and two others by one stroke. Can he create more magic this week?

Bernhard Langer (+2800)

A two-time Masters Tournament champion, Langer is one of the most decorated golfers in the field. His last victory came at the Chubb Classic in February.

Darren Clarke (+3000)

The 54-year-old Irishman claimed victory at the Sanford International at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls, S.D., his third win of the season earlier this month. He’s commonly remembered for winning the 2011 Open Championship.
