Young to Break Drought at 2023 RSM Classic
2023 RSM Classic Odds Are Available
Cameron Young is our pick with 2023 RSM Classic odds to get off the mark on the PGA Tour.
The American is the best player on tour without a win next to his name, so it’s only a matter of time, and it could happen in 2023.
Fellow youngster Ludvig Aberg is the current favorite, so the money is with the younger golfers.
Long Overdue a Win
He might only be 26, but it’s about time Young broke the drought and won on the PGA Tour.
His best form has come at the majors. He owns four top 10 finishes in the majors, all coming in the last two years, including a second at the 2022 Open Championship, T3 at the PGA Championship, and T7 at the 2023 Masters.
Young is clearly good enough to beat this field, and his 2023 RSM Classic odds represent value at +1600.
We rated him around +1200 to win, and although he has yet to win a PGA golf tournament, it’s only a matter of time before he wins.
He would love to get the monkey off his back before the year ends, especially after playing below-par golf, but having time off helps.
“I hadn’t had time off like that in a long time, so it was really nice,” Young said. “I spent some time at home with my family and I was able to practice at home consistently, which was really nice. I feel like so often it’s one week, you’re just home in between events.”
Take the +1600 and expect to see him near the top of the golf scores leaderboard.
Sticking With Aberg
Much like Young, we’re adopting the chase theory with Aberg, who is one of golf’s brightest young stars.
The Swede took the world by storm with his excellent play for Europe at the Ryder Cup, and he has come close to winning on the PGA Tour.
He lost the Sanderson Farms Championship in a five-man playoff to Luke List, but he followed it up with a T13 at the Shriners Open and T10 at the WWT Championship.
It’s terrific form for a 24-year-old, who was playing in college not long ago. His rise to fame has been handled well, and like Young, it’s a matter of time before he wins on the PGA Tour, having already won on the European Tour.
His golf odds this week are +1200, so he’s the favorite, but he is worth including in selections.
Suh Attracts Attention
It always pays to watch for any betting moves, and 2023 RSM Classic odds have shortened for Justin Suh.
The 26-year-old is another youngster in the field, and he comes off a fourth-place finish at the World Wide Technology Championship, hence the betting move.
The American has been close to winning on the PGA Tour, including a T5 finish at the Honda Classic, but his latest result is a step in the right direction.
It followed a T10 result at the ZOZO Championship, so he has been playing well for a few weeks, which is good to see.
His odds firmed into +2400, so he’s on the fifth line of betting, which is lower than we expected.
Much like Alex Noren last week, who had good support for the Bermuda Championship, we think Suh could do something similar.
Bhatia Could Be Best
We have been impressed with the form of Akshay Bhatia, who adds his name to the list of young golfers at the RSM Classic.
The 21-year-old won the 2023 Barracuda Championship in July, and although the best golf players in the world weren’t there, most of them aren’t at the RSM Classic either.
He’s one of the more unique golfers on the PGA Tour, and the former top amateur is good enough to win his second tournament this week.
We thought he would be much shorter than +5000 with the sportsbook, who could rue opening him at such long odds.
He represents excellent value at the odds, so snap them up before they shorten.
