Orioles vs Padres Betting Odds: AL-Leading Road Roll

Red-Hot Darvish Looks To Get the Padres Off To Strong Start In Monday's Series Opener

Baltimore Heads To San Diego Looking To Add To Lead in the American League East

For entirely different reasons, the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres are two of the most surprising teams in the majors during the 2023 MLB season. The Orioles were not projected to lead the American League, while the Padres are well back in the National League playoff race. The Orioles vs Padres betting odds list the Padres (-136) to win the series opener with the total at 8.5 juiced -120 to the under.

Baltimore’s 37 road wins are second in the major leagues, while San Diego takes a 30-28 home record into the three-game series against Baltimore.

The Padres were tied for third in the odds to win the World Series coming into the season, with the Orioles tied for 20th in the championship odds.

According to the MLB predictions, only Houston has better odds among American League teams to win the World Series. The Padres are sixth in the National League in the championship odds.

Mullins Announces His Return

It was a pretty quiet return to action for Baltimore outfielder Cedric Mullins as he was 0-for-8 with three strikeouts in his first two games back after missing nearly a month due to injury.

Mullins wasn’t in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale with Seattle. However, he was there for the end of the game as his two-run home run in the 10th inning gave the Orioles the two-run lead. Shintaro Fujinami took care of the rest as he retired Seattle in order in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Having Mullins back could impact the Orioles vs Padres betting odds.

Padres Come Up Short Again

Wondering why the Padres are languishing behind in the MLB National League standings? A 6-19 record in one-run games is a good place to start, and that could factor into the Orioles vs Padres betting odds.

The six one-run wins are the fewest in the majors, and the series with Arizona ended with the Padres being unable to hold onto a two-run lead as the Diamondbacks tied the game on Gurriel’s two-run home run in the seventh inning and took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning.

San Diego was 0-for-7 with three walks after taking the 4-2 lead.

Orioles vs Padres Injury Update

Outfielder Aaron Hicks and pitcher Keegan Akin are both on the injured list for the Orioles. They could return later this month.

Eight pitchers are on the injured list for the Padres and that includes Joe Musgrove, Michael Wacha and Drew Pomeranz. Wacha could return for the second game of the series.

Orioles vs Padres Betting Preview

When looking at the baseball scores, Baltimore is tied for second in the majors with 19 wins since the MLB All-Star Game despite seven blown saves during that stretch. San Diego is 13-15 over that stretch, with the 109 walks issued the most among National League teams.

The Orioles and Padres haven’t met since 2019, when San Diego won three of the four games between the teams. Three of those games finished over the total.

There were 58 runs scored in the last four meetings between the Padres and Orioles in San Diego.

The Orioles are 8-4 in the last 12 games against National League teams.

The total has gone over in four of San Diego’s last five home games. Baltimore has covered in 43 of the 59 road games with the Padres 28-30 against the spread at home.

The Orioles are 36-15 when listed as a favorite this season. San Diego is just 9-19 as the underdogs in 2023.
