Orioles vs Rangers Betting Odds: Top-Seeded Orioles Face Playoff Elimination

After Four Straight Road Wins, the Texas Rangers Head Home Looking To Clinch AL Division Series

After A 101-Win Season, The Baltimore Orioles Face Playoff Elimination

Neither of the two young starting pitchers delivered for the Baltimore Orioles. Now, the team with the best record in the American League needs to win three straight games to avoid being eliminated by the Texas Rangers. The Orioles vs Rangers betting odds favor the Rangers to sweep Baltimore out of the playoffs.

Baltimore did win two of the three games on the road versus the Rangers during the MLB regular season, so perhaps the Orioles can find a way to extend the series.

Dating back to the 2022 season, the Orioles had won nine straight against the Rangers. However, Texas has won five of the last six games.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The teams were 10 of 30 with runners in scoring position in Game 2, with the Rangers going 4 for 6 in the five-run second inning.

Veteran Nathan Eovaldi is set to pitch Game 3 for Texas with the Orioles yet to announce a Game 3 starter, impacting the MLB betting odds.

Texas now has the best odds at +350 to win the World Series, with the odds for the Orioles falling to +3300, and the Rangers at -1000 to win the series against the Orioles.

Rough Opening Act For Orioles

Coming into the season, the starting pitching was one of the most significant question marks when it came to the Baltimore Orioles.

After exceeding expectations during the regular season, those concerns have resurfaced.

In the first two games of the series, Kyle Bradish and Grayson Rodriguez have combined to allow 13 hits, seven runs with five walks and 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Keep that in mind regarding the Orioles vs Rangers betting odds.

It doesn’t help that an injury to veteran lefty John Means resulted in him being left off the roster for the American League Division Series. Kyle Gibson and Dean Kremer combined to go 28-14 during the regular season. However, both of them had ERA over 4.00 and combined to allow 50 home runs.

The Orioles wasted a potential Game 3 starter as trade deadline acquisition Jack Flaherty threw 46 pitches in two innings as one of eight pitchers called upon in Game 2.

When looking at the MLB scores and odds, Baltimore is 51-20 against the run line when listed as the underdog.

The total has gone under in nine of Baltimore’s last 10 games.

Rangers Catching On

Catchers Jonah Heim and Mitch Garver have certainly been enjoying themselves during this series.

Heim had an RBI single in a two-run fourth inning in Game 1 of the series and also threw out the only runner attempting to steal, which came after Gunnar Henderson singled to lead off the ninth inning with Baltimore trailing by one run.

In Game 2, Heim had another RBI single, while Garver, who served as the designated hitter, hit a grand slam in the third inning after scoring a run in the second inning. He drove in five runs in the 11-8 win by the Rangers. They could factor into the Orioles vs Rangers betting odds.

The total has gone under in six of the last nine games played by the Rangers.

Who’s Hot

  • Evan Carter, Texas Rangers OF: Carter is 5-for-10 with three runs, four extra-base hits, and three RBIs in the four playoff games.
  • Gunnar Henderson, Baltimore Orioles IF: Henderson is 3-for-8 with a home run and three runs scored in the series.
  • Jose Leclerc, Texas Rangers P: Leclerc has surrendered four hits and no runs with five strikeouts in four innings in the postseason.
  • Tyler Wells, Baltimore Orioles P: Wells has allowed no hits, no runs and has two strikeouts in two innings pitched in the series.

Who’s Not

  • Bryan Baker, Baltimore Orioles P: Baker allowed three runs as a result of three walks while recording just one out in Game 2.
  • Dane Dunning, Texas Rangers P: Dunning has allowed four hits and two runs in four innings during this year’s playoffs.
  • Cedric Mullins, Baltimore Orioles OF: Mullins is 0-for-8 with three strikeouts in the first two games of the series.
  • Nathaniel Lowe, Texas Rangers 1B: Lowe is 3-for-18 with seven strikeouts so far in the playoffs. He has no extra-base hits and one RBI.

Orioles vs Rangers Injury Update

Both teams are missing key starting pitchers, with Baltimore’s Means, who was limited to four games during the regular season, out for the Orioles. Texas is without mid-season acquisition Max Scherzer. He was acquired at the trade deadline due to injuries to starting pitchers. Pitchers Jacob deGrom and Jon Gray are also sidelined for the Rangers.

Orioles vs Rangers Betting Preview

Baltimore led the American League with 52 road wins during the regular season. Facing elimination after topping the AL with 101 wins during the regular season, it will be time for the Orioles to conjure up some of that magic away from home.

Baltimore and Texas finished first and second among American League teams against the run-line total during the regular season.

However, both the Orioles and Rangers had losing records versus the run line when listed as the favorite and were a combined 90-39 as underdogs. The Orioles have covered in 57 road games this season, the most in the majors.

Among American League teams, only Tampa Bay had more games finish over the total. The total is currently at nine as the series moves to Texas.

This will be the first home playoff game for Texas since 2016, with the Rangers losing six straight home contests in the postseason.

It would be quite the sudden end to a remarkable season for Baltimore to be swept out of the playoffs, so roll with the Orioles finding a way to extend the series.
