Reds Look For More Offense
In a three-game series on the road against the Chicago White Sox, the Reds picked up three wins, scoring 27 runs in the process. But in the opener of this series, Cincinnati’s offense went mostly silent, putting up just three runs on seven hits after the team fell into a first-inning hole.
The bright spot from Monday’s game was the bat of outfielder Jake Fraley, who was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. It was the fourth straight appearance for Fraley in which he had at least two hits, and he’s batting .432 on the season. Righty Logan Gilbert will hope for that kind of run support when he takes the mound for his fourth start of the season looking for his first decision. Gilbert has a 2.66 ERA but hasn’t had much offense when he’s pitched. The team needed extra innings to get victories in two of his three starts. He held the Toronto Blue Jays to one run over 7.2 innings in his last start but got a no-decision because Seattle managed just one run before scoring five in the 10th inning.
Outfielder Mitch Haniger has been consistent at the plate for Seattle. He extended his hit streak to six games with two hits on Monday night. Haniger had a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in the victory. If he can stay hot, the Mariners will continue to be one of the better MLB betting picks.
Mariners Keep It Rolling With Win
The Reds have been a solid team all season, but they’re going to have trouble getting some runs on Gilbert. Seattle has to be feeling some confidence after its offensive outburst on Monday. This can equate to another solid game at the plate in this one.
