D’Angelo Russell Next Team Odds: Will He Part Ways With LA, Again?

Finding Value in D'Angelo Russell Next Team Odds Markets

Are The Bright Lights Too Much for D-Lo?

D’Angelo Russell seems to once again have fallen out of favor in LA and the decision around his future remains murkier than ever heading into the offseason. Let’s take a look at the D’Angelo Russell Next Team Odds market and see if we can spot some value for bettors.

Russell fell out of the rotation by the end of the teams Western Conference Finals series against the Denver Nuggets, but that’s not to say his time in LA is completely done and dusted. The Lakers are still likely to retain his services given the limited options they have available to upgrade their roster and it’s asinine to assume the NBA scores from a single series will dictate a players future with a team.

That said, this market is his next team if not the Lakers and so it’s worth exploring the prices on offer.

The Phoenix Suns are the market favorite to add Russell to their roster at +400, but it’s hard to envision how they make the salary fit without moving Deandre Ayton first. Aside from the financial aspect it’s impossible to see a world where they would engage in the idea after adding Bradley Beal to partner Devin Booker in the backcourt.

That Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets are next in line in the betting markets, both currently sitting at +500. The Hawks are a team that could become very interested depending on what direction they choose to go with Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

The Hornets are a team that has the cap space but would likely need to move off Terry Rozier in order to justify the spend.

Eliminating the Unlikely Candidates

The Suns are certainly a team that fit in this category, but they’re absolutely not alone.

The Dallas Mavericks are +600 to acquire D-Lo but that’s a terrible price when looking at their roster. The Luka Doncic – Kyrie Irving backcourt is cemented and everything they do is going to center around maximizing their talents.

They already have Tim Hardaway Jr on the payroll and we’ve seen and heard that the priority for this team remains at the wing position.

The Memphis Grizzlies are also +600 and despite their hunger for spacing and scoring they aren’t likely to add Russell to their rotation when they just went and acquired Marcus Smart from the Boston Celtics.

The San Antonio Spurs are +800 and while they would have no problem offering him the salary he demands it isn’t a fit that makes sense given the rebuild happening around Victor Wembanyama.

Now, remove these names from the market and things start to get interesting.

Best D’Angelo Russell Next Team Odds Prices

The biggest standout on the board might be the New York Knicks at +1000 odds.

Adding Russell’s shooting and playmaking in the half court would be a huge boost after seeing how drastically they struggled to create shots in their recent playoff run. The floor spacing would be a huge asset for Jalen Brunson off pick-and-roll action, while his versatility playing as a two-guard can open up lineup versatility for coach Tom Thibodeau.

The Toronto Raptors are another interesting possibility at +1000 as well given that Fred VanVleet is also testing free agency.

It’s no secret that the Raptors are in desperate need of spacing and shooting, plus they’ll be actively seeking another primary ball handler that they can add to their rotation.

Russell very much ticks all those boxes for them and if the team is adamant on remaining competitive then this is a move that could very much come to fruition.

Before any NBA games kick off I’d expect Russell to likely return to LA with the Lakers, but given that this only pays if that’s not the case then a sprinkle on Toronto or New York provide the most value for bettors on the D’Angelo Russell Next Team Odds market.
