Minnesota vs Dallas Games 1 & 2 Analysis

In a tightly contested Game 1, the Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious with a narrow 108-105 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Throughout the game, both NBA teams traded blows, but it was the Mavericks who made the decisive late surge.

Minnesota’s offensive stars, Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, struggled with their shooting, scoring a combined 35 points on inefficient shooting percentages. However, Jaden McDaniels stood out for the Timberwolves, contributing 24 points and displaying sharpshooting prowess from beyond the arc.

Key Points For The Victory

  • The Mavericks relied on their dynamic backcourt duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, who combined for 63 points.
  • Doncic led the scoring with 33 points
  • Irving’s efficient performance, shooting 12-of-23 from the field, was instrumental in securing the win for Dallas.
  • Despite some shooting struggles, Doncic’s impact cannot be overlooked as he controlled the pace and offense for Dallas throughout.

Luka Doncic’s Plays

  • In Game 2, Luka Doncic’s clutch shot secured the Dallas Mavericks a 2-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
  • Doncic’s last-second heroics, combined with his fifth triple-double of the playoffs, propelled the Mavericks to a narrow 109-108 victory.
  • Despite trailing by 18 points at one stage, Doncic’s resilience and leadership inspired his team’s remarkable comeback.

Doncic, who once again controlled the game on the offensive end, finished with 32 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds, showcasing why he is already one of the best players in the NBA league. The Timberwolves game, despite an amazing shooting performance from Naz Reid, couldn’t contain Luka and fellow star Kyrie Irving late in the game.

Kyrie, who hadn’t made a three-pointer all series, came alive in the fourth quarter for Dallas, sinking four threes and ending the game with 20 points. Minnesota’s star duo of Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards once again were not efficient enough to get things done for Minnesota. The two combined for only 36 points on an embarrassing 9-of-33 from the field.

Game 3: Players to Watch

A lot of this series so far has been about the offensive success of Dallas’ stars and the disappointing offensive play of Minnesota’s. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been able to control the game late with their pick-and-roll mastery, while Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns have been contained completely by Dallas’s defense.

Over his last four games in these NBA bracket, Luka Doncic has eclipsed his points/rebounds/assists betting line in all four. He’s headed back to Dallas for Game 3, where his role players will likely shoot more efficiently. Doncic’s scoring may decrease but we could see him hitting his assist total.

Kyrie Irving

  • Although Kyrie played amazingly in Game 1 and came alive in the fourth of Game 2, he has struggled to hit his scoring prop in the last few playoff games.
  • In his last eight games, Kyrie has only gone over his points total once, which was Game 1.

Anthony Edwards

  • In Anthony Edwards’ last eight playoff games, he also has struggled to hit his scoring prop.
  • Edwards has gone over his scoring prop in only two of his last eight games.
  • He may be due for a big scoring night, but Dallas’s defense has been able to play him well so far.

Karl-Anthony Towns has also been trending in his scoring under. He has gone under his scoring prop in five of his last seven games.
