The NBA Summer League Schedule has opened the door for quite the treat as this year’s two top prospects, Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson, could meet on opening weekend in Sacramento.

Summer League is a great opportunity for rookies and sophomores to familiarize themselves with the NBA environment and this year there are three scheduled events once again.

The California Classic will take place in Sacramento on July 3 & 5 for the fifth edition of the pre-season event. The Golden1 Center could be the venue for the Wembanyama vs Scoot showdown with the San Antonio Spurs (#1 pick) and Charlotte Hornets (#2 pick) both set to take part in the event.

The six teams involved in this event are the host Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, LA Lakers, Miami Heat, Spurs, and Hornets.

The Salt Lake City Summer League is also set for July at the Delta Center on July 3, 5, and 6. The host Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City, and Philadelphia 76ers are the four teams set to take part in the three-day event.

While this isn’t a true acclimation to the NBA schedule for the rookies it does provide an important platform in building rhythm and confidence heading into training camp.

NBA lines will be available for these games closer to game time and good betting opportunities are often available in the lead-up to tip-off if you keep a close eye on lineup news and roster availability.

NBA Summer League Schedule: Vegas Set to Be Main Attraction

The NBA 2k24 Summer League will take place between July 7-17 in Vegas and will feature all 30 teams.

The competition is often made up of rookies, sophomores, and G-League affiliate players who are trying to establish a role in the team’s rotations for opening night. It is also common practice for most teams to have assistant coaches play the lead role on the sidelines.

The tournament-style week also features slightly different rules to a regular NBA game, with each quarter lasting just 10 minutes – an important note when looking at the NBA lines and totals on offer.

Last season, Sacramento Kings rookie Keegan Murray was the recipient of the tournament MVP. Other high-profile winners of the award include Blake Griffin (2009), John Wall (2010), Damian Lillard (2012), and Lonzo Ball (2017).

While the emphasis on top-rated rookies getting high minutes has diminished over time we did see Paolo Banchero put up big numbers in his court time last season before sitting out with a slight ankle injury.
