Knicks Enjoying Success
The Knicks have shot up the East NBA standings with three consecutive wins over the Rockets, Wizards, and Raptors.
It has been an impressive stretch, and only a narrow loss to the Orlando Magic ruined their winning streak.
Their against-the-spread record improved to 23-18-2, so bettors are starting to profit, and they have been featured in many picks and parlays over the last month.
Beating the Nets isn’t anything new for the Knicks. They won 121-102 on the road in December, and the Nets haven’t improved since.
The trade deadline was significant for the Knicks, who saw RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickly leave. However, they received OG Anunoby.
Along with a stellar Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, there is every reason to follow the Knicks in the coming weeks.
Our Knicks vs Nets NBA preview takes into account the NBA odds, which have the Knicks at -4.5. Given their form, it’s a fair line, and they’ll have plenty of fan support at Barclays Center.
Nets Not Firing
After dropping four of their last five NBA games, there isn’t much going the way of the Nets.
The +4.5 underdogs were disappointing in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers. It looked like the Nets would win comfortably, but a shocking fourth-quarter performance put pay to that.
They didn’t score for the final five minutes, and it looked like they were doing everything in their power not to win. They were outscored 41-15 in the fourth, which puts a new definition on the word ‘choke.’
“Just got to be better for the whole 48,” Mikal Bridges said. “Definitely not fun. We were stuck, didn’t know what to do or how to break it.”
That’s not a good sign for bettors, and although NBA injuries to Ben Simmons hasn’t helped their cause, we’re not sure if Simmons playing would have benefited much anyway.
However, they return home after a three-game road trip, which included a 130-112 win over the Lakers. They should tame some confidence from that effort.
They are 10-10 at home, which is respectable, but we expect most of the money to come for the Knicks, who are the better NBA team.
Ride the Hot Hand
There isn’t a reason to bet against the Knicks, so our Knicks vs Nets NBA preview has them covering the spread.
Winning by five points against the Nets shouldn’t be too tricky given they defeated the Raptors by 26 and Houston by 15 points last week.
We’re happy to put them on top and include under 222.5. The total opened at 224.5 points before it was taken straight away, which isn’t surprising.
We don’t expect the Nets to score many points, and they could be kept to under 100.
