NCAA Colorado Buffaloes Odds: Deion Sanders Making Presence Felt

2023 Colorado Roster to Bear Little Resemblance With 2022 Buffaloes Squad

Sanders Brings Plenty of Former Jackson State Players to Colorado

There might not be a more compelling team in the 2023 college football team than the Colorado Buffaloes. The NCAA Colorado Buffaloes Odd are wide ranging.

Deion Sanders wasn’t shy about recruiting players committed to other programs and that has resulted in the roster bearing little resemblance to the team that finished 1-11 a season ago.

Colorado is priced at +20000 to win the national title along with Baylor, Illinois and Pittsburgh. Two of those three programs are a year removed from winning a conference while Illinois was one of the most improved teams in the country.

It will be interesting see how all the moving parts come together in a team that will attract more attention than any other squad has coming off a 1-11 season.

Colorado is listed anywhere from 3 to 4.5 when it comes to projected win totals.

Sanders is certainly generating headlines and a recent video of assistant coach Tim Brewster has been a hit on social media.

Tough Opening Act

The schedule is certainly not the easiest beginning with a trip to play national runner-up Texas Christian in the Sept. 2 season opener. When looking at the NCAA Colorado Buffaloes odds, they will be underdogs in this one.

That is followed by home games versus Nebraska and Colorado State. Those three teams have a combined expected win total of 19.5.

Kicking off play in the Pac-12 with games at Oregon and at home against Southern California and Heisman Trophy winner Cleb Williams will be rather challenging.

The next couple of games could be the ones to make or break this bet when it comes to the NCAA football predictions for Colorado.

First up is the Oct. 7 trip to Arizona State with the Sun Devils and with a short week, thanks to a Friday game, that will be followed by Stanford coming to Folsom Field.

ASU (6.5) and Stanford (4) are ahead of Colorado in the expected win totals according to the college football lines on one site.

The second half of the season features road games against UCLA, Washington State and Utah.

Who’s Coming In?

There has been quite the buzz about the incoming freshmen who flipped to Colorado and that has been reflected in the NCAA odds for the Colorado Buffaloes.

However, according to the 247sports.com recruiting database, Colorado signed the 30th-best class of freshmen. Among Pac-12 programs, No. 8 Oregon, No. 12 USC, No. 21 Utah, and No. 29 are all ahead of the Buffaloes.

Cormani McClain, the No. 1 rated cornerback in the class, leads the list of signees. He is the lone top-100 recruit coming to Boulder. USC brought in three players ranked in the top 100.

The transfer portal might be where the biggest difference is seen, Colorado has the No. 5 rated class of transfers. USC Trojans ranks third, UCLA sixth and Arizona State 10th so there is a lot of talent coming into the conference.

Travis Hunter, also a cornerback, followed Sanders from Jackson State to Colorado and is the top-rated player in the transfer portal. He is one of seven players who played for Sanders at Jackson State set to play for him at Buffalo.

Former Arkansas State tight end Seydou Traore and Jackson State quarterback Shedeur Sanders (the son of the head coach) are other top incoming transfers. Keep an eye on linebacker Demouy Kennedy as he comes in from Alabama.

Who’s Leaving?

It is not a good sign when offensive linemen head elsewhere and of the positions with the highest profile incoming players, the offensive line is pretty far down the list.

Offensive lineman Casey Roddick is now at Florida State while Edgar Amaya also entered the transfer portal. Austin Johnson headed to Charlotte with Noah Fenske transferring to Southern Illinois.

Quarterback Maddox Kopp is now at Miami (Ohio), Brendon Lewis moved onto Nevada and Owen McCown left for UTSA.

Kicker Cole Becker, who was 11 of 13 on field goals, is now at Utah. Cornerback Kaylin Moore (35 tackles, two pass breakups) transferred to California.

There isn’t much in the way of potential NFL prospects who left Colorado. Tight end Brady Russell is the top-rated player on one draft 2023 NFL Draft database. He is followed by linebacker Josh Chandler-Semedo. Offensive lineman Tommy Brown, linebacker Quinn Perry, defensive end Terrance Lang, linebackers Guy Thomas and Robert Barnes as well as receiver R.J. Sneed are among the top players hoping to play pro football. None of them made former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah’s list of the top 50 prospects for the upcoming draft.

Stay tuned because the 2023 Colorado football season will be a lot of things, but it will not be boring.
