Titans Ryan Tannehill’s Ankle Sprain Sidelines Surgery

The Tennesse Titans Injury Report Saga Continues Well

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill finds himself sidelined yet again with an ankle injury for the second year running. But here’s the silver lining: in an update to the Tennesse Titans injury report, this time the dreaded surgery room is not on the agenda.

Hot off the press come tidings of optimism. The Titans have received “overall good news” regarding Tannehill’s ankle woe – it’s a high ankle sprain that won’t be sending him under the surgeon’s knife. While the calendar’s mum on his return, the critical point is, no surgery is needed.

Ankle Ordeal Happened in Clash With Ravens

The ankle ordeal made the Tennesse Titans injury report during the Titans’ NFL matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on a fateful Sunday. Late in the third quarter of their 24-16 loss, Tannehill, in a moment of misfortune, threw an interception and was promptly yanked from the game.

However, it seems Lady Luck had not been in his favor, as his ankle had already taken a beating earlier (the same one that went under the scalpel earlier this year), and he’d been nursing it, hobbling on one leg like a wounded warrior.

After the dust settled, Tannehill let the cat out of the bag saying he couldn’t plant his right foot for those precision throws, that he couldn’t move properly, that he couldn’t make the throws.

Coach Mike Vrabel chimed in, noting that this ankle injury is akin to the one Tannehill wrestled with last year in Week 7. Back then, it only cost him two games, but it came back to haunt him in Week 15, ultimately benching him for the rest of the season. After a surgical fix-up during the offseason, it’s safe for the Tennesse Titans injury report to say Tannehill’s steering clear of the operation table.

Schedule Jackpot

The Titans might have hit the jackpot with their schedule, as they have a bye week in NFL Week 7. This breather gives Tannehill nearly two weeks to nurse his ankle back to health. And should they need a substitute for NFL Week 8, it could be either Malik Willis, who manned the fort in the fourth quarter on Sunday, or Will Levis, the third-string quarterback. Titans aren’t throwing in the towel just yet! 🏈💪
