Titans vs Browns Preview: Chubb’s Injury Shifts AFC Showdown Line

Road Team Looks to Win Again When Tennessee Travels to Cleveland

Injuries In the Secondary Could Slow Visiting Tennessee Titans on Sunday

When the Tennessee Titans hit the road to face the Cleveland Browns, both teams will look to go over .500. When it comes to the Titans vs Browns preview, keep in mind that Tennessee is one of eight teams in the NFL that has covered in each of the first two games.

The line opened with the Browns favored by 4.5 points. With Nick Chubb, who is fourth in the NFL in rushing yards when it comes to NFL player stats, out for the rest of the season resulted in the line moving to the Browns being a three-point favorite.

A quick look at the NFL team stats shows that Cleveland has allowed the fewest points among AFC teams even after giving up two defensive touchdowns the last time out. Tennessee is sixth in the AFC in scoring defense.

Tennessee is coming off a 27-24 overtime win over the Los Angeles Chargers after allowing the Chargers to score just twice in five red-zone trips.

When looking at the NFL standings, both teams are 1-1.

Cleveland is priced at +2200 in the odds to win the Super Bowl with Tennessee coming in at +6500.

Titans Need to Tighten Things Up

While Tennessee has been tough to run against in the first two games of the season; only four teams are allowing more passing yards and the injuries are starting to pile up in the secondary.

The good news is that the Cleveland passing game is a bit of a mess right now so perhaps Tennessee will provide more resistance after allowing Justin Herbert to throw for more than 300 yards a week ago. Keep that in mind when looking at the Titans vs Browns preview.

The total has finished under in five of the last six games for Tennessee.

More Questions Than Answers for Browns

One of the few sure things for the Browns coming into the NFL season was having star running back Nick Chubb. However, Chubb will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. A quick peek at the NFL team stats shows that Cleveland is the top rushing team in the NFL.

There have been reports that the Browns could bring back Kareem Hunt to team with Jerome Ford.

There has been no sign that quarterback Deshaun Watson can carry the offense without a dominant running game. Cleveland leads the NFL in rushing attempts and yards.

When it comes to the Titans vs Browns preview, bear in mind that the total has gone under in seven of Cleveland’s last nine games.

Last Meeting

The teams have a tough act to follow after a wild 41-35 win by visiting Cleveland in 2020 with the Browns listed as four-point favorites the last time Tennessee and Cleveland squared off.

The game headed over the 54-point total with 9:08 left in the third quarter. The teams combined for nearly 900 yards in the game. It was the sixth time in the seven meetings between the Browns and Titans finished over the total.
