The JJ McCarthy NFL Draft Odds Favor the Minnesota Vikings To Land Him
J.J. McCarthy and the Michigan Wolverines won the National Championship earlier this season. His head coach, Jim Harbaugh, acknowledged that McCarthy was the best quarterback that Michigan has ever had.
Knowing Tom Brady went to Michigan, people were skeptical, even with the National Championship. However, scouts and executives around the league have fallen in love with McCarthy. With that, he’s risen up the draft board and is now expected to be in the top six of this year’s NFL Draft.
Prior to Michigan’s title, McCarthy wasn’t even being mocked in the first round by many respected analysts. His workouts and interviews have changed many teams’ feelings about McCarthy.
Although McCarthy didn’t throw the ball at a high rate per the NFLÂ player stats like some of the other quarterbacks in the draft, he certainly has a strong demeanor about him. He always sounds like a leader and says the right thing.
Clearly, his teammates loved him at Michigan. With the whole team on the same page, Michigan won a title with McCarthy leading the way.
It was needed, especially after his head coach, Jim Harbaugh, was suspended for more than half of the season due to various violations.
Below, we’ll look at all of the JJ McCarthy NFL Draft odds. We’ll discuss his draft position and an expected team that will draft him, among other prop bets that are out for McCarthy.

J.J. McCarthy’s Draft Position (5.5 +125/-155)It’s practically set that Caleb Williams will go first overall to the Chicago Bears. Chicago traded Justin Fields away to the Pittsburgh Steelers to draft Williams. He’ll be Chicago’s starter on opening day and is ultimately a lock to go first overall.
The following two teams on the board are also looking for a quarterback. Washington and New England will choose between Drake Maye, J.J. McCarthy, and Jayden Daniels.
One of those three won’t get drafted in the first three selections. If that’s McCarthy, he’ll have the chance to go fourth to a team looking to trade up.
The Cardinals could select Marvin Harrison Jr. and beef up their receiving core. They’ll trade the pick away and earn multiple assets back if they don’t. If they do, McCarthy would only have one more opportunity to get selected to reach Over 5.5.
The Los Angeles Chargers won’t need a quarterback at No. 5. However, the Chargers could consider trading out of the fifth pick to a team needing a quarterback.
The Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants come to mind. Both have assets that could get a deal done. Plus, Harbaugh is now the coach of the Chargers. He could request a trade and help his former quarterback get drafted at a higher draft slot to earn more money.
Most NFL analysts predict at least one trade for the No. 4 or No. 5 picks, which would send a quarterback to one of those spots.
If four quarterbacks are off the board in the first five picks, McCarthy will likely be one of them. That’s why the odds are currently -155 to go Under 5.5 picks.
That said, McCarthy is not a favorite to get selected as the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, or No. 5 pick. His best odds are currently +175 for the No. 4 spot. However, Marvin Harrison Jr. is currently -175 to be selected for that spot.
J.J. McCarthy’s Pick Number
With the No. 1 pick of the NFL Draft, J.J. McCarthy has +5000 odds of being first. That’s unlikely.
When we shift to the No. 2 spot, McCarthy’s odds improve to +700, but his odds are still behind Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye. Daniels, for example, has -275 odds that he’ll be the No. 2 overall pick.
Meanwhile, Pick 3 has Drake Maye favored at -130. This is New England’s pick, with McCarthy currently +200 to get selected third overall to the Patriots. He’s still not the favorite for Pick No. 3.
With the fourth pick NFLÂ draft odds, Marvin Harrison Jr.’s odds are currently -175, ahead of McCarthy, who is +175 to go fourth overall.
Finally, McCarthy’s JJ McCarthy NFL Draft odds to land 5th overall are at +275. But that’s behind Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr., So it’s really unclear where McCarthy will go. The oddsmakers are still trying to figure out which teams(s) will trade up for a quarterback early once Williams, Daniels, and Maye come off the board.
Would the Cardinals be willing to sell their pick and lose out on Marvin Harrison Jr.? Can the Chargers afford to lose out on Malik Nabers at the No. 5 spot in a trade?

Who Will Draft McCarthy?
The Vikings have the best odds to draft McCarthy at +120. Minnesota let Kirk Cousins walk to Atlanta and is expected to start Sam Darnold at quarterback this season. Even if Darnold starts this season, the Vikings would love to have another young quarterback get some time on the sidelines and prepare for a start in the following year.
Next would be the Patriots at +200. New England is currently expected to draft Drake Maye. However, they’ve communicated with McCarthy and are considering the Michigan product. Some believe he could give the Patriots life like Brady did since both came from Michigan.
The Giants are the other team that has a chance at landing McCarthy. Like the Vikings, the Giants would likely have to trade up to get McCarthy. But, again, they have the assets. New York is +350 to get McCarthy. They were really the first team interested. inMcCarthy per reporters. But McCarthy grew on the other teams and now has many suitors looking to draft him.
Other JJ McCarthy NFL Draft odds have Washington at +700 to land the Michigan product. Denver is +750, and the Raiders are +1200 to draft McCarthy. These three are way heavier long shots and are unlikely to draft McCarthy.
Our NFL predictions believe the Vikings will trade up for the No. 4 or No. 5 pick to add McCarthy to the quarterback room. That would get the Under and land a +120 bet on the team he’s selected by.
