Inter Favored to Extend Serie A Winning Streak
It’s no secret that Inter Milan have played excellent football this season. The Nerazzurri are on top of the Serie A table and can extend their winning streak to five when they head to Genoa on Friday. Genoa are also coming off a win over Sassuolo, which was their first victory since November 10th. Recent scores and odds in this fixture have favored Inter Milan. Inter have kept eight straight shutouts vs Genoa and hold a 7-1-0 record during that time. The last meeting, in February 2022, finished scoreless. Genoa last defeated Inter Milan at home in 2018 but managed the feat in five straight seasons from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
Late Heroics Seal Three Points for Genoa
Just before Christmas, Genoa got their first away win since late August. Il Grifone fell behind in the first half as Armand Lauriente set up Andrea Pinamonti. Sassuolo nearly doubled their lead, but Genoa managed a goal-line clearance.
In the second half, Albert Gudmundsson converted on a penalty, and Caleb Ekuban scored his first Serie A goal of the season to hand Genoa a 2-1 win. With the victory, Gena moved up to 13th place in the Serie A standings.
While Il Grifone certainly hasn’t been consistent this season, they have managed some decent results. They have wins over Lazio and Roma and a recent draw vs Juventus. Bettors should note that two talented attacking Serie A players are out for Friday’s match as Mateo Retegui and Junior Messias are both out injured.
Genoa vs Inter Milan previews note that this is Alberto Gilardino’s first match vs Inter Milan as a manager. The former World Cup-winning striker frequently faced Inter in the Derby della Madonnina as a member of AC Milan.
It’s unclear how Genoa plan to break their scoreless streak vs Inter but it seems that Gudmundsson is the most likely suspect to get on the scoresheet. The Icelandic international has found the net seven times so far this season.

Last week, Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who is Serie A’s leading scorer, missed a match for the first time in the Serie A 2023-2024 season. Still, the Nerazzurri managed to defeat Lecce by a 2-0 scoreline.
Defender Yann Aurel Bisseck scored his first Serie A goal for Inter Milan as he flicked on a corner into the back of the net with his head. Marko Arnautovic, who started up top with Martinez out, wasn’t able to get on the scoresheet.
Still, the Austrian provided a glorious backheeled assist for Nicolo Barella to seal the deal. Inter are now on a four-game Serie A winning streak and are undisputed title favorites.
Inter have scored the league’s most goals, conceded the fewest and are on the league’s longest active winning streak. It remains to be seen whether Martinez will be able to suit up here, but Inter are capable of creating chances either way.
Along with Martinez, Juan Cuadrado, Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries are on Inter’s injury list. Without Dimarco and Dumfries, Simone Inzaghi’s side can’t attack as much as they’d like from the wings. Still, Carlos Augusto and Matteo Darmian are capable of filling in admirably. Forward Marcus Thuram is one to watch for if Martinez is unable to suit up once again.
