⚽ USA vs Trinidad & Tobago ⚽
Location: Q2 Stadium, Austin, Texas
Date & Time: Thursday, November 16th, 9:00 p.m. EST
Head-to-Head:
USA last met Trinidad & Tobago in the Gold Cup group stage back in July. Jesus Ferreira scored a hat trick as the USA won by a resounding 6-0 scoreline. The USMNT have been a good bet on soccer games between them and Trinidad. USA have outscored Trinidad & Tobago 19-0 over the last three meetings. USA have also won every match they’ve played on home soil vs. Trinidad & Tobago since 1989.
USA Missing Pulisic, Weah
Thursday marks USA’s first competitive match since losing in penalties to Panama in the Gold Cup Semi-final back in July. Since then, the US Soccer Federation once again hired Gregg Berhalter, which wasn’t without controversy. In Berhalter’s second tenure, the USA soccer team has gone 3-1 in four friendlies. Last month, Germany took down the USMNT by a 3-1 scoreline. A few days later, Gio Reyna scored twice in a 4-0 win over Ghana.
For the CONCACAF Nations League Quarter-finals, Christian Pulisic and Tim Weah are out of the squad. Captain Tyler Adams is also recovering from a long-term injury. Pulisic has a recurring hamstring injury and his production will certainly be missed. They figure to rely on Folarin Balogun, who has scored three goals in six appearances for the national team. Bettors should note that Berhalter named 20 of the same players from last month’s roster in the side. The USA vs Trinidad & Tobago CONCACAF odds price USA as massive -3800 favorites for this one.
USA haven’t lost a competitive match at home for over four years and they’ll be motivated to blow Trinidad & Tobago away in the first leg. While some key players are absent, Berhalter can still name a strong side. Expect Balogun to start up front and a midfield trio of Reyna, Yunus Musah and Weston McKennie. Berhalter has a few options at fullback and on the wings but Chris Richards and Tim Ream look like the probable starters at center back.
Trinidad Scoring and Conceding in Bunches
Trinidad and Tobago both scored and conceded the most goals in CONCACAF Nations League A, group A. Through four matches, they went 3-1 and the Soca Warriors scored 10 goals and conceded nine. Reon Moore and Nathaniel James both scored two goals apiece for Trinidad & Tobago. Moore has scored in each of Trinidad’s last two matches heading into Thursday’s game at the USA.
In their last match of the Nations League group stage, Trinidad & Tobago fell behind 4-0 and fell 5-3 to Curacao. Trinidad didn’t have to face group winners Panama but they have struggled in recent matches vs. top CONCACAF sides. Along with the 6-0 defeat to the USA, Trinidad & Tobago also fell 4-1 to Jamaica in the Gold Cup group stage. CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying 2026
While the USA automatically qualify for the World Cup in 2026 as co-hosts, Trinidad start CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying 2026 next Summer. The Soca Warriors have only qualified for one World Cup in their history and are currently ranked 99th in the FIFA World Rankings.
Match Analysis & Odds
Note that the team that advances from the Quarter-finals will both advance to next year’s Nations League Semi-finals and qualify for the 2024 Copa America. So, this is not just a glorified exhibition match for the USA, who would be ecstatic to take on South America’s best sides next year. With how much Trinidad have conceded lately, it wouldn’t be surprising if the USA score early and often in this one.
The USA vs Trinidad & Tobago CONCACAF odds list USA -3.5 at even odds. Meanwhile, Trinidad +3.5 sits at -130. The U SA have beaten Trinidad & Tobago by at least six goals in each of the last three meetings. Betting on the USMNT spread isn’t a terrible idea in this one. While the USA are -3800 favorites, Trinidad enter the match as +4000 underdogs. A draw also comes in at +1800.
Under 4, 4.5 goals sit at -130 odds for this one but each of Trinidad & Tobago’s last three matches have finished with five or more goals. The Soca Warriors have only scored once in their last nine games vs. the USA.
