Is the USWNT Dynasty in CONCACAF Coming to an End?
El Tri Femenil Takes Maximum Points & Maintains a Clean Sheet Versus USWNT

Fourteen Years of Dominance Is No More ⚽
It took over 5000 days and 16 straight losses, but on Monday night, during a CONCACAF Gold Cup Group A clash, Mexico’s women’s national team triumphed over the United States to finish atop the table and stroll into the playoffs with the joint-best offensive and defensive record alongside Group C’s Canadian unit.
Viva Mexico!
Naturally, USWNT news is now flooded with questions such as: “Is the USWNT dynasty in CONCACAF over?” but honestly, let’s point the spotlight on El Tri Femenil for a moment as a hard-fought, well-deserved, 2-0 success over their North American rivals was a noteworthy performance.

The best part about Mexican women’s soccer victory was the location: Dignity Health Sports Park, California, USA.
That’s right; no home advantage was needed, as the emphatic footwork of Mayra Pelayo and Lizbeth Ovalle put El Tri Femenil two up, as the likes of Espinoza, Bernal, and Ferral, with Barreras between the sticks, held a stubborn backline and prevented their border-rivals from finding a single goal.
Of course, the 11-thousand-plus fans in attendance often made the soccer game seem like a home fixture for the Mexican women, and it’s this level of support that will be of huge assistance to the squad, whose current form could make history for the nation and become the only team to lift the 2024 Gold Cup outside of Canada and USWNT.

USWNT Tournament Expectations
With that said, United States Women National Team games at the Gold Cup 2024 aren’t over yet, and there’s a real possibility that these two sides could meet again, whether it be in the quarterfinals, semis, or the final of the competition itself.
Let’s face the elephant in the room around this USWNT news: USWNT rumors are now questioning whether the USWNT dynasty within CONCACAF competitions has reached its end, but I say hold your horses.
One loss doesn’t deflect two decades of accomplishments, and prior to this loss, a record of 80 consecutive CONCACAF home games sat with the United States Women’s national team.
Despite the loss, soccer stars like Alex Morgan put up valiant performances, and it’s the emphatic skills of soccer players like her that will give the nation hope in high-profile tournaments.

Could the USWNT news drop this year, help them win the Gold Cup to another challenging nation? Sure, but do they have the talent to win it? Certainly!
We shouldn’t expect that the USWNT news to give up their place on the throne just yet, and it’ll take nine Gold Cup trophies to accomplish this anyway. However, the landscape of professional soccer in CONCACAF is undoubtedly changing, and a more competitive scene makes the tournament a million times more interesting as a fan.
