Bundesliga Matchday 27 Odds & Preview: Title Challengers Face Off

Bayern Get Crucial Der Klassiker Win

Potential Title Challengers Face Off

Thomas Tuchel’s first match in charge of Bayern Munich ended in a pivotal win over rivals Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker. With the 4-2 victory, the Bavarians returned to first place in the league table. On Saturday, Bayern will take on the team who just knocked them out of the DFB Pokal, SC Freiburg. Meanwhile, title challengers Dortmund and Union Berlin clash at the same time on Saturday as per the Bundesliga schedule. We’ll take a look at these matches and a couple of others as we review the important Bundesliga Matchday 27 odds. It’s a crucial phase of the season, and fans eagerly await the upcoming fixtures as they closely follow the Bundesliga schedule and the potential impact on the title race.

Games of the Week

BVB Borussia Dortmund vs Union Berlin FCU

Date, time:

Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin are currently in second and third place in the German Bundesliga standings. Even though Dortmund lost to Bayern last weekend, they’re on 53 points, just two points behind the Bundesliga leaders. Meanwhile, Union Berlin are on 51 points and have won their last two matches in the Bundesliga. They did fall to Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 on Tuesday in the DFB Pokal Quarterfinals, though.

Dortmund head on the road to RB Leipzig in the DFB Pokal on Wednesday as well and will get just two days of rest before hosting Union Berlin.

Regardless, Dortmund are one-goal favorites for Saturday’s match and have won all four of their recent home games vs. Union. Dortmund sit at +105 odds to cover the spread and -170 odds to win the match. However, they’ll be missing defender Nico Schlotterbeck and forward Sebastian Haller is likely to be a game-time decision.

Schlotterbeck is a big loss for Dortmund as he’s played the most minutes of any BVB player this season. Union +1 displays -125 odds, as a result. Visitors also show +475 odds to get their first win in Dortmund since their promotion to the Bundesliga in 2019.

Union did get a 3-0 win over Stuttgart over the weekend as Sheraldo Becker scored his team-leading eighth goal. They’ve also managed to climb the table up to third place despite keeping the third-lowest possession figure in the league. These teams have never drawn a Bundesliga match but a draw does come in at +300 odds here. Goals are expected, as over 2.5 are priced at -120.

SCF SC Freiburg vs Bayern Munich FCB

Date, time:

In Thomas Tuchel’s second match in charge of Bayern Munich, Bayern Munich fell 2-1 to SC Freiburg on a last minute penalty. As a result, Freiburg advanced to the semifinals of the DFB Pokal and got their first ever win at the Allianz Arena. Bayern led 1-0 after a Dayot Upamecano goal but blew the lead and now get their Bundesliga rematch at Freiburg on Saturday.

Under Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern were 3-0 vs. Freiburg but the Breisgau Brazilians haven’t defeated Bayern at home since 2015.

Currently, the Bundesliga Matchday 27 odds price the Bavarians as one-goal favorites and Bayern sit at -140 odds to cover. The ten-time defending champions are embroiled in a tight title race for the first time in a long time and this is a must-win. Their moneyline odds are -220. Meanwhile, SC Freiburg are looking for their first-ever Champions League appearance.

Christian Streich’s side are in fourth place, two points ahead of RB Leipzig and a draw would be a solid result for the hosts. A tie comes in at +400 odds, while Freiburg +1 sits at +120. Defeating Bayern twice in one week is certainly a difficult feat and the odds reflect that. Freiburg display +500 odds to win Saturday’s match.

Tuesday’s goal scorer for Bayern, Upamecano, is out due to suspension, though. That could mean a start in defense for Daley Blind.

Freiburg have a mostly healthy roster and goalkeeper Mark Flekken has kept the joint-most shutouts in the league this season. Still, the odds price over three goals at -115 for what should be an excellent match. Freiburg enter the match on a seven-game Bundesliga unbeaten run that Bayern will be itching to put to an end.

Other Important Matches

B04 Bayer Leverkusen vs Eintracht Frankfurt SGE

Date, time:

Bayer Leverkusen are currently on the Bundesliga’s longest current winning streak, at four games. They’ll put their streak on the line vs. Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, who have one of the Bundesliga scoring leaders. Randal Kolo Muani has been excellent this season for Frankfurt and has scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists.

The French international has the most goal contributions in the league and scored twice midweek. His goals came a minute after one another as Frankfurt knocked Union Berlin out of the DFB Pokal. While Leverkusen have put together a nice streak, Frankfurt haven’t won in the Bundesliga since mid February.

For this match, the odds price Bayer Leverkusen as 0.5-goal favorites. Xabi Alonso’s team shows -120 ATS and moneyline odds here. Although, they have just an average home record this season, at 6-2-5. With forwards Patrik Schick and Adam Hlozek potentially not 100 percent, this could be a tough match. On the other hand, Frankfurt come in at even odds to cover the spread and +290 odds to win the match. A draw also displays +290 odds.

In one of Xabi Alonso’s first matches as Bayer coach, his side fell 5-1 to Frankfurt. However, the home team has dominated this fixture over the last few seasons. The last 11 meetings have been won by the home team, which bodes well for Leverkusen. This has also been quite a high-scoring fixture recently.

Ten of the last 11 matches have ended with three or more goals scored. Perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that over 2.5 goals are listed at -150 odds.

Hertha vs RB Leipzig

Date, time:

While Hertha are staring at potential relegation, RB Leipzig find themselves on the Champions League bubble. After losing 7-0 to Manchester City, Leipzig have dropped their last two Bundesliga matches. They’re also two points behind fourth-placed SC Freiburg and need a road win on Saturday at Hertha.

Hertha Berlin are currently in the relegation playoff spot but did manage a draw at SC Freiburg on Matchday 26. The Berlin club is also just two points ahead of last-placed Stuttgart with eight matches to go.

With both teams needing a result, the Bundesliga Matchday 27 odds list home side Hertha as one-goal underdogs. Since earning promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016, RB Leipzig have dominated this fixture. They’ve put together an 11-1-1 record vs. Hertha and have won the last five meetings. Leipzig come into this match at +110 ATS and -160 moneyline odds.

Reportedly, key Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku is nearing a return but it’s unclear whether he’ll be ready for Saturday’s match. Without him, Leipzig have failed to score in three straight matches, in all competitions. That could open up the door for Hertha to have a chance here.

The hosts sit at -130 odds to cover and +420 odds to win the match. Hertha have put together a 4-5-4 record at home this season, while Leipzig are a disappointing 4-4-5 on the road. In what has been an exceptionally high scoring fixture over the last few years, over 2.5 goals show -125 odds.

In two of the last three meetings, Leipzig have scored six goals as well. The reverse fixture this season ended 3-2 as Leipzig got out to a 3-0 first half lead. While a draw would mean a point for both sides, Hertha are three points from safety and need big results from here on out. Regardless, punters can take a draw at +300 odds.
