Brighton Have Opportunity to Spoil Man City’s Title Run

Brighton vs Man City Betting Odds Favor Cityzens

City Coming off FA Cup Semifinal Victory

Thursday’s Brighton vs Man City betting odds may favor visiting City but the Seagulls have an opportunity to spoil Manchester City’s title run. Pep Guardiola’s Man City could become the first team to win four EPL titles in a row if they win out. They enter the week third in the EPL table, four points behind Arsenal. City have two games in hand but any slip up would give the Gunners the upper hand. Brighton lose very few Premier League matches at home and Roberto’s De Zerbi’s side could make this an interesting one. Ahead of the match, we’ll look at the head-to-head, team news and odds.

Brighton vs Man City Head-to-Head

Manchester City scored two first half goals in the reverse fixture in a 2-1 victory. Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland were on the scoresheet for City as the pregame Brighton vs Man City betting odds listed the Cityzens as -250 favorites. Ansu Fati got a second half consolation goal for Brighton but they couldn’t manage to equalize. Man City have won four of the last five meetings between the sides. However, Brighton did manage to grab a 1-1 draw at the AMEX vs. Man City last season. City are 11-1-1 in 13 previous EPL games vs. Brighton.

Injuries Derailing Brighton’s Season

Brighton’s match on the EPL schedule vs. Chelsea on April 20th was rescheduled so the Seagulls didn’t play last weekend. Brighton’s last match was on Saturday, April 13th when they drew 1-1 at Burnley. Both goals came from lapses in concentration. The Seagulls conceded first, in the 74th minute, when Carlos Baleba couldn’t deal with a long ball. Keeper Bart Verbruggen came out to try to clear but it deflected off of Burnley’s Josh Brownhill and into the net.

Burnley handed Brighton a lifeline when Clarets keeper Arijanet Muric miscontrolled a pass that went into the back of his net. Brighton did manage to create 20 chances in the match but their finishing wasn’t clinical enough. The Seagulls are now on a four game winless streak, which includes draws to Burnley and Brentford and losses to Liverpool and Arsenal.

When Brighton lost to Arsenal at home, it was just the second time all season the Seagulls lost at the AMEX in the EPL. Between injuries, European competition and a drop in quality, Brighton have regressed this season. With an 11-11-10 record, they’re currently in 10th place in the Premier League. It looks like all of Tariq Lamptey, Kaoru Mitoma, Billy Gilmour and James Milner will miss this match. Meanwhile, Pervis Estupiñan, Julio Enciso, Adam Webster, Evan Ferguson and Jack Hinshelwood are listed as doubtful.

Man City Shake Off PK Shootout Loss

Manchester City lost in a penalty kick shootout to Real Madrid in last week’s Champions League Quarter-Final. City responded with a narrow 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup Semifinal on Saturday. Bernardo Silva scored the game’s only goal and he has scored some big goals this season. As Liverpool and Arsenal recently lost EPL matches, Man City have the upper hand in the title race.

Despite sitting in third place, the Premier League betting odds list Man City as -140 favorites to win a fourth straight EPL trophy. City haven’t lost a 90 minute match since December and Rodri missed all three of their Premier League losses this season. The Spanish midfielder is healthy and will undoubtedly be in the lineup on Thursday.

John Stones and Erling Haaland are potential injury absentees. Stones went off at halftime of Saturday’s win over Chelsea and Haaland missed the match. Haaland is joint-leading scorer in the Premier League this season, with 20 goals. Phil Foden has also added 14 goals and seven assists and will take on added responsibility if Haaland is out.

Brighton vs Man City Match Analysis & Odds

Bettors should note that Brighton haven’t lost back-to-back home matches since December 2022. Still, the Brighton vs Man City betting odds price visiting City as -225 favorites for this one. Whether Haaland plays or not, City have multiple players who can break down defenses. Kevin De Bruyne seems to be getting back to his best after a long injury layoff.

The Seagulls also haven’t been great defensively this season, conceding 50 times in 32 matches. Goals have also been hard to come by for Brighton lately, as they’ve found the net just three times in their last six EPL games. With that, Brighton are +580 underdogs and Brighton +1, +1.5 sits at -115 odds.

Meanwhile, Man City -1, -1.5 comes in at -105 and they’ve scored at least four goals in their last three Premier League games. A draw would give Arsenal the upper hand in the title race and shows +415 odds. Meanwhile, over 3, 3.5 goals at even odds looks somewhat intriguing given City’s goalscoring form in the league.
