Brentford Goalie Could be on Move

Raya Among Top Premier League Keepers

Brentford’s meteoric rise over the last few seasons has been a delight to see. The Bees had the lowest wage bill in the Premier League in 2022-23 but finished ninth in the league. They were just two points outside of a European berth. Goalkeeper David Raya is a major catalyst in Brentford’s recent success, as they’re just two seasons removed from promotion. Raya is a wanted man in the transfer market this Summer for his efforts. So, we’ll look at the David Raya next club odds.

David Raya Stats

David Raya won a share of the EFL’s Golden Glove award three years ago, with 16 clean sheets. Raya’s Brentford failed to earn promotion to the Premier League but were once again candidates heading into the 2020-21 season.

The next year, Brentford lost just seven games, and Raya allowed just 0.86 goals per 90 minutes. He also played 300 more passes than any other keeper in the Championship and is known for being good with his feet. By winning the EFL Championship Playoff, the Bees advanced to the Premier League for the first time ever.

In Brentford’s first season in the EPL, Raya appeared in 24 English Premier League fixtures and finished with the second-best save percentage in the league. He also earned his first call up to the Spanish National team in March 2022.

Raya shone in the 2022-23 season, finishing with a 77.7 percent save percentage. That was the best figure of any keeper in Europe’s top five leagues. Raya also played the most minutes of any EPL player. He kept 12 clean sheets as Brentford finished in ninth place in the EPL.

Set for EPL Stay?

Now that 27-year-old David Raya has established himself as one of the better keepers in world football, clubs have taken notice. The David Raya next club odds list a few potential options for the sweeper-keeper. Tottenham are the favorites to seal Raya’s signature and show +300 odds to do so. Spurs’ English Premier League scores in 2022-23 were disappointing as they finished in eighth place. Tottenham goalie Hugo Lloris could be on his way out, opening the door for Raya to head from West to North London.

Chelsea may be looking for competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga now that Edouard Mendy is off to Saudi Arabia. The Blues sit at +350 odds to become Raya’s next destination. Arsenal were one of the biggest soccer betting surprises in 2022-23 as they finished second in the Premier League. The Gunners display +450 odds to sign Raya, but he’s unlikely to usurp Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal’s number one. Plus, Arsenal already have a reliable backup in Matt Turner.

Manchester United just agreed on a deal for Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana, which rules out a move for Raya. Still, as of the last update the Red Devils showed +550 odds to sign Raya. Aston Villa look to be an unlikely option unless Emiliano Martinez departs the club for greener pastures. Unai Emery’s Villa are priced at +4000 odds to sign Raya.

Options Abroad

To boost his chances of becoming Spain’s number one, David Raya could also move abroad. Raya has made two appearances for Spain, but he’s certainly behind Unai Simon in the goalkeeping pecking order. Raya was an unused substitute as Spain won the UEFA Nations League last month.

The David Raya next club odds list his most likely option abroad as PSG, at +600. Still, PSG have Gianluigi Donnarumma, one of the best goalies in the world. Bayern Munich are also quite set at goalkeeper but show +1000 odds to sign Raya regardless.

Juventus and Inter Milan are now interesting options for Raya. Juve’s Wojciech Szczesny has a contract that runs out in 2024. Meanwhile, Inter Milan are set to lose Andre Onana to Manchester United. Juve are at +1400 to sign Raya on the odds board, while Inter Milan’s +1800 could get shorter in the coming days. There’s always the chance that Raya stays at Brentford this Summer as well. If he does depart, Thomas Frank can call on former Lazio keeper Thomas Strakosha.
