FedEx St. Jude Championship Preview: Don’t Sleep on Rahm

The Playoffs Begin in Memphis

Our FedEx St. Jude Championship preview features three of the best golfers to bet on for the first round of the playoffs. Looking to top the PGA leaderboard are the likes of Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, and FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler. It should be an excellent tournament and the field of 70 are available with PGA odds.

Rahm Under the Radar

Rahm stands as the overlooked contender in the competition, consistently showcasing strong performances in this tournament throughout recent years.

The Spaniard secured victory earlier this year in the 2023 Masters, and despite not having the same busy schedule as the likes of Scheffler, it could mean he’s fresh and ready to fire. World golf rankings don’t lie, which makes Rahm and exceptional wager at +800 with our FedEx St. Jude Championship preview.

We thought he could have a touch shorter with the sportsbook, but we’re happy to take the value odds on offer.
Rahm knows what it takes to shoot low numbers in the FedEx Cup playoffs, so he’s at the top of our selections.

Scheffler Headlines Market

Scheffler is currently listed at +650 to win with our FedEx St. Jude Championship preview, and he’s aiming to secure his first victory outside of the months of February, March, and April.

Despite his lack of wins this time of the year, the world number one always remains a threat to win. As the top-ranked player in the field, he holds the lead over McIlroy and Rahm in the FedEx Cup rankings, which is important.

A strong performance in this tournament could potentially allow him to maintain his position at the top heading into the BMW Championship. However, he will be gunning for the win to get the monkey off his back.
His putting hasn’t been ideal, but he’s not overly worried.

“It’s like, if you say it every time and [the media sees] me miss a 12-footer it’s like, oh, there it is. He’s struggling again,” Scheffler said. “The things that I’m working on right now I feel very excited about. I’m hitting a lot of good putts. Pretty soon, a lot of those good putts will start falling in the middle of the hole instead of dodging around the side of it.”

Hovland Hovering Around Leaderboard

Viktor Hovland is handy in betting markets at +2000, and we’re happy to include him in our picks.
Despite most of his victories on the PGA Tour coming against relatively less competitive fields, such as the Mayakoba Classic, the Norwegian standout has consistently displayed his skill on numerous occasions in major tournaments.

With four PGA Tour victories under his belt, Hovland stands ahead of many of his fellow competitors in this field, warranting a significant level of respect.

Should he find himself near the top of the leaderboard on Friday, he could push for the win and climb the FedEx Cup rankings. He has taken some time off since playing at the Open Championship, so he should be fresh and ready to fire in Memphis.
