2023 MLB Longest Win Streak Odds

Mets, Astros Co-Favorite to Own Longest Streak +800

Before we start diving into the day-to-day grind of pouring over opening betting odds & MLB standings, we continue our Major League Baseball prop preview by looking at a few of the teams that could own the longest win streak of the MLB season of 2023. When betting on this prop we must determine which pitching staff, both starters and pen, we’re most comfortable with because a reliable staff is what will ultimately put together long streaks.

Also, in 2023 divisional games are not as much of an emphasis as it was in previous seasons because teams will now play everyone in the league. That makes it a little more difficult because we can’t rely on great teams to go on a run against weaker-division foes. Let’s start our MLB longest win streak odds preview by going through each team with the best odds followed by a few predictions.

Yankees logo Yankees Staff Puts Them in Position to Cash Prop

Injuries mean so much to winning this wager, but we’re going to assume that everyone is going to maintain their health for the purpose of this preview. New York features Gerrit Cole at the top of the rotation followed by Carlos Rondon.

These two alone make it a combo that you can rely on to keep a streak alive or stop a losing streak which is an important component of this prop. Cole was incredibly reliable to take his turn in the rotation in 2022 after making a league-leading 33 starts.

That allowed him to produce 257 k’s in 200.2 innings. Rondon owns a FIP of 2.25, which is a measurement of a pitcher’s effectiveness in preventing homer’s and walks while factoring in strikeouts. All of that means, there won’t be many base runners against the Yankees‘ top starters. Luis Severino will hold down the third spot in the rotation and may be asked to take on an additional load if Rondon battles injuries.

The bullpen and offense should be considered in the top 10 in both categories, especially if Clayton Holmes rebounds from a shaky second half. New York is more than capable of going on a 15-game streak, which would likely cash this wager. Let’s continue our MLB longest win streak prop preview by turning out attention to the last streak winner.

Braves logo The Braves Should be Close Second to Yankees

On paper we expected the Braves to be a close second wager to go on a long streak but there are a few injuries and key losses that could be the difference. Kenley Jansen has taken his talents and 41 saves to Boston. The Braves replaced Jansen with Raisel Iglesias at last season’s deadline, but Iglesias will start the season on the IL leaving Atlanta with some question marks on the back end of their pen.

Most reports say that Iglesias will be back soon but when we’re talking about a shoulder, it’s difficult to assume everything will be okay within a few weeks. The Mets‘ top two starters of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are certainly stranger than the Braves’ Max Fried and Kyle Wright, but the rest of the Braves staff holds fewer question marks.

Rays logo Rays Worth a Long-Shot Wager at +1800

According to the betting board, the Tampa Bay Rays are the tenth choice at +1800 to cash this wager, but with their starting staff, they’ll put together a few streaks that could sneak into the winners circle after a six-game streak being their high in 2022. According to Fan Graph, the Tampa Bay Rays will have the league’s top projected team ERA of 3.56, tied with the Yankees.

In 2022, Tampa finished fourth in ERA and third in starting rotation ERA. There are many who wish that staff ace, Shane McClanahan would have made a difference in a Team USA uniform, that wasn’t going to happen after coming off a shoulder injury late last season, but the point is he’s that good and should be on the team in three years.

Speaking of health concerns Tyler Glasnow is throwing off flat ground as he makes his way back from an oblique injury. He is projected to make his way back to the Rays rotation in May. Newly acquired Zach Eflin will have the second spot in the rotation but must be a bigger contributor to Kevin Cash than he was in Philadelphia. The bottom line is, when healthy, this is a team that can put together a streak but you will likely be asked to sacrifice a couple of months of your wager until the staff is 100%.

Brewers logo +2000 Brewers Are In Play

This will be a quick thought, but with three teams in their division who are projected to finish under .500 the Brewers who a top-10 pitching staff that is projected to have the fourth-best ERA (3.72).

That does it for our MLB longest-win streak prop preview. When it’s all said and done, we expect the Yankees to be your best bet.
