San Francisco Treat

The San Francisco Giants remain firmly in the National League playoff race. At 46-38, the Giants are third in the NL West, 3.5 games behind the first-place Diamondbacks. But they currently own the third and final Wild Card spot. Oddsmakers have priced them at -200 to make the playoffs.

The Giants are just 4-6 over their last 10 games. They’re coming off back-to-back series losses on the road to the Blue Jays and Mets. Nevertheless, they appear headed in the right direction after a dreadful start, in which they went just 11-16 in April. The Giants have gotten solid contributions across the board, with a depth of talent that includes second baseman Thairo Estrada (.761 OPS), third baseman J.D. Davis (45 RBI), and first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr (.416 on-base percentage).

San Francisco’s lineup has been cold of late, with just 17 runs over its last seven games. That said, across the baseball betting market, the Giants remain a fairly reliable pick. They’re 44-40 against the run line this season, including 21-16 following a loss. Their 52.4% cover rate at home is the fourth-highest in baseball, trailing only Texas (61.4), Tampa Bay (59.1), and Cincinnati (59.1). That’s important to remember when assessing the Mariners vs Giants betting odds.

Seattle Offers Mixed Bag

The season’s first half has been relatively underwhelming for the Seattle Mariners. Seattle remains under .500 at 40-42, 9.0 games behind first-place Texas in the American League West and 5.0 games out of the third and final Wild Card spot. Certainly, the Mariners have work to do in order to return to the playoffs for only the second time since 2001.

Seattle is 5-5 over its last 10 games and just 11-15 in June. That said, it rebounded to take two of three games from Tampa Bay at home over the weekend. With a plus-17 run differential, the Mariners may be in line for positive regression.

The Mariners have struggled away from home, going 16-22. Despite that, they’re 20-18 against the run line on the road, including 15-8 as a road underdog.

âš¾Game 1

Logan Webb vs Bryan Woo

Day/Time:

Webb, San Francisco’s de facto ace, is 7-7 with a 3.43 ERA. He allowed a season-high five runs in his last start, a 6-1 loss to Toronto on June 28. He’s tied for fourth in baseball with 12 quality starts.

Woo, owns a 4.37 ERA over his first five starts since being called up from Double-A Arkansas. The 23-year-old right-hander has displayed swing-and-miss stuff, with 32 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. He was Seattle’s Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May.

San Francisco is -1.5 (+170) on the run line and a -132 favorite to win outright, with Seattle priced at +122. The projected total is 7.5 (-105/+115), the lowest of the day.

âš¾Game 2

TBD vs Logan Gilbert

Day/Time:

Gilbert has been fairly steady atop the Mariners’ rotation. He’s a key reason why they rank second in baseball with 41 quality starts. The 26-year-old right-hander is 5-5 with a 4.19 ERA and has struck out 93 in 92.1 innings. He’s gone at least six innings in seven of his previous 11 starts.

San Francisco has yet to name a starter for the Fourth of July tilt. That should affect the Mariners vs Giants betting odds.

âš¾Game 3

Alex Cobb vs Bryce Miller

Day/Time:

Cobb is 5-2 with a 3.12 ERA. He’s allowed only six home runs over 83.2 innings. Seattle will counter with Miller, who owns a 3.97 ERA in his first 11 MLB starts. He’s been vulnerable of late, with a 5.48 ERA in June.
