2024 Coca-Cola 600 Odds: Larson, Hamlin Lead Cup Series Favorites

After a Controversial All-Star Race, NASCAR Heads to Charlotte for the Coca-Cola 600

A post-race fight between Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch marred Joey Logano’s dominant win in the All-Star race last weekend. Stenhouse Jr. was fined $75,000 for the altercation.

With that drama in the rearview, the Cup Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway to begin the second half of the regular season. The 2024 Coca-Cola 600 Odds favor a trio of drivers at the top, including one pulling double duty this weekend.

2024 Coca-Cola 600 Odds: Favorites

  • Kyle Larson (+425)

Larson has a packed weekend ahead of him. He’ll compete in his first Indy 500 Sunday afternoon before taking a charter jet to Charlotte for the Cup Series race in the evening.

He’d be just the fourth Cup Series driver to do both races on the same day.

There are potential obstacles in his way, though. Weather delays could impact the start time of the Indy 500 and the latest forecasts predict a 88% chance of rain.

Even if he manages to get through the Indy 500 on schedule, he could have more trouble in Charlotte getting to the NASCAR race. Former President Donald Trump is visiting Charlotte and that brings heightened security in the area.

He’s the favorite because he leads the standings and has raced well at similar tracks with wins in Las Vegas and Kansas. Team owner Rick Hendrick stated that they’ll make a final decision on potentially pulling out of the Indy 500 on Sunday.

  • Denny Hamlin (+600)

Hamlin’s good form this season continued during the All-Star Race. He was the only driver to come close to Logano during the 200-lap race.

This week, he returns to an event he won two years ago from pole position. In 32 career races at Charlotte Motor Speedway, he’s finished in the top five 11 times.

That’s second only to Kyle Busch among active drivers. He’s in the best form of any driver in the last four races and can use that momentum to notch another win in 2024.

  • Tyler Reddick (+800)

Reddick dropped from sixth on the grid to 14th by the chequered flag in North Wilkesboro last weekend. That followed a rough race in Darlington.

He qualified on pole, led the most laps, and won Stage 2 but wrecked and finished 32nd.

Luckily, he’s enjoyed Charlotte Motor Speedway in his Cup Series career. Reddick’s made the top 10 in four out of five career races there.

His average NASCAR results (8th) is the best among active drivers. With good results in Las Vegas and Texas this year, he should be in for strong finish here.

Sleepers

  • Chase Elliott (+1000)

These odds don’t make Elliott a major sleeper but enough to be worth it. His strong form dropped slightly in Darlington when he finished 12th.

But he’s been a reliable performer at similar tracks with 12th in Las Vegas, a win in Texas, and third in Kansas. He’s fourth in the NASCAR standings for good reason and it could be win No. 2 of the season this weekend.

  • Martin Truex Jr. (+1100)

Similarly, Truex Jr. is barely a sleeper by these NASCAR odds. He saw his streak of top-20 finishes end in Darlington where he was classified 25th. He could easily bounce back in Charlotte, though.

He’s made the top 10 an outstanding seven out of his last 10 races there, including two wins (2017 and 2019).

Last time out, he raced from 18th on the grid to third by the chequered flag. Look for him to get his first win of the year this weekend.

  • Kyle Busch (+1600)

Busch was in the news due to the Stenhouse fight post-race last weekend. It’s the biggest news of the year in a quiet season for the two-time Cup Series champion.

He’s remarkably consistent in Charlotte with 16 top-five finishes in 35 career races, including one win (2018). That consistency has held true in recent years.

He’s finished lower than sixth just once in his last seven races there. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in victory lane.

  • Ty Gibbs (+1700)

Gibbs is fresh off a win in the All-Star Open for the second consecutive year. A week earlier, he managed second in Darlington. He finished fifth in Las Vegas in a similar track.

In the Xfinity and ARCA Menards Series, Gibbs raced well in Charlotte with wins in both series in 2021. In the Charlotte Roval race last year, he finished fourth. This weekend could bring him his first Cup Series win.

2024 Coca-Cola 600 Odds: Predictions

Charlotte marks a return from the All-Star Race and the back half of the NASCAR regular season beginning.

A hierarchy has formed in the standings up to this point but there’s plenty of time for things to change up ahead of the playoffs.

Of the favorites, Larson’s Indy 500 commitment causes too much uncertainty despite his standout form at these tracks. Instead, Reddick (+800) is our pick. Of the sleepers, we like Gibbs (+1700).

Our top five picks are:

  • Reddick (+110)
  • Hamlin (-125)
  • Gibbs (+175)
  • Elliott (+140)
  • Truex Jr. (+140)
