There is every reason to get excited about the Jared Goff player stats of 2023.
It was an interesting move for the Detroit Lions to receive Goff from a trade, but it’s starting to pay off.
Bettors could continue to cash in with Goff and the Lions for the remainder of the NFL schedule.
In Goff They Trust
A fair amount of trust has been placed on the shoulders of Goff, who replaced Matthew Stafford.
He was always going to need a season under his belt in the new system, but he is having an excellent and economical year.
Goff has thrown 11 touchdowns and three interceptions, the NFL power rankings have him in fourth place for quarterback rating (QBR).
He may have had his detractors as a short passer in the early going, but he has matured better than many NFL quarterbacks his age.
“You don’t want to be in the wrong place,” reflected Goff. “It became increasingly clear that was the case. [The trade] is something that I’m hopeful is going to be so good for my career.”
The 29-year-old, who was taken as the number one NFL draft pick in 2016, has led the Lions to a 5-1 record following four consecutive victories over Atlanta, Green Bay, Carolina, and Tampa Bay.
Improving Averages
Goff has always been an economical QB, but his completion percentage has improved in 2023.
It’s a main reason why NFL points spreads are respecting the Lions, because Goff is completing at 69.5%, compared to his career average of 64.5%.
It might not seem like much, but he’s also averaging eight yards per pass, which is good for Jared Goff player stats.
He is projected to have 31 touchdowns at his current rate with NFL scores, and that could see the Lions make a deep playoff run.
He hasn’t thrown an interception in his last two games against the Panthers and Buccaneers. He threw five touchdowns and his passer rating was 132.4 against the Panthers, which is stellar.
Goff doesn’t pose much of a running game, but he doesn’t need to be a dual-threat QB to make an impact.
Better Protection
Jared Goff player stats would be better if he got better protection from his offensive line.
The Lions offensive line is steady, but he has been sacked seven times in his last three games, which makes life harder.
More time in the pocket would allow Goff to see targets downfield, and although you risk being intercepted, he has enough ability to connect with his talented receivers.
If the offensive line gives Goff more time to find open receivers, he could make a play for Most Valuable Player, which would be a massive upset with betting markets.
He started the year as a big underdog, but now NFL odds have him at +2000 to win the MVP.
