Stefon Diggs Career Stats: Achievements of an Elite Receiver

Is Diggs as Much of a Liability as He is a Star?

Just this week, reports stated that Stefon Diggs did not attend the Buffalo Bills’ mandatory minicamp. Head coach Sean mcDermott stated it was “very concerning”. However, Diggs’s agent, Adisa Bakari, quickly said otherwise. It’s only the start of training camp and the Bills’ best wide receiver is already making unflattering NFL news. Stefon Diggs’ career stats show an elite talent. But will these off-field issues slow down his progress?

All-Pro Receiver Consistently Produces but…

Since the Bills acquired Diggs from Minnesota, the receiver blossomed into becoming one of the best wideouts in the NFL. Diggs consistently ranks among the top receivers per his NFL player stats. His success comes from both his talents and his fiery nature. The 29-year-old is competitive and emotional. It can push his teammates to work harder or it can be a distraction.

Following the team’s postseason loss to Cincinnati, Diggs was visibly upset with his quarterback, Josh Allen. He left before speaking with the media then made cryptic tweets about his time with the team.

Buffalo just inked Diggs to a four-year extension worth $96 million last year. Trading him would prove difficult, to say the least. So for everyone’s sake, this training camp no-show better be a non-issue.

Stefon Diggs Player Profile & Stats

Diggs was drafted in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2015. In 2020, the team traded him to Buffalo. In his first year in Buffalo, Diggs led the NFL in receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535). He was named to the First-team All Pro. In his next two NFL seasons, he scored double digit touchdowns and 100+ receptions.

On top of this, Diggs has had some big postseason games. He connected with Case Keenum for the famous “Minneapolis Miracle” in a 2018 NFL divisional game against New Orleans. Diggs caught the game-winning touchdown and posted 137 receiving yards.

And in his first playoff game with Buffalo, Diggs posted 128 receiving yards and a touchdown as Buffalo scored its first postseason win since 1995.

Allen and Diggs Must Rekindle Relationship

It goes without saying that the Bills need Allen and Diggs to redevelop their chemistry for this season. Diggs is the Bills’ best receiver and a big part of their offense. The team will have a tougher time covering NFL spreads let alone beating the best teams without Diggs.

As for Diggs, being partnered with an elite quarterback is a gift he shouldn’t take for granted. There are only a handful of quarterbacks at Allen’s level. Stefon Diggs’ career stats will further grow if he can stay steely with the Bills and work things through.
